AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

It's not even a disater it's just priced crap in the UK

Lets say they are both virtually the same in Rasta (which they are not too far off) so lets put it down to RT/Features

In the US it's $1200 vs $1000 you are spending 20% more for that RT performance over the 7900xtx

In the USA the XTX is a good value card, you if you don't care for RT you get the same performance for 200 less, and if you want better RT you have to spend 20% more to get it.

The problem is the UK prices

£1050 vs £1150 you are paying just under 10% more for the 4080 so to get that extra performance in unique features. 10% more isn't that bad... you would normally expect to spend 10% more on an AIB card so the 4080 becomes more of an option.

The issue is the value difference between the 7900xtx and the 4080 is halved in the UK making the 7900xtx a harder choice.

It spanked it, from the i9 to the i5 zen 4 got wreaked. Hense AMDiscount a few month later.
Spanked it? Toms hardware didn't seem to think so, they gave the 13900k the nod in gaming with everything else mostly being a wash.

Plus the 3d cache versions are on the horizon which will likely end with amd taking the lead.

Wreaked? Is that like wrecked?

And the discount was due to trying to make the cost of the platform more palatable, the motherboard manufacturers seemingly don't want to budge much on price so amd did with the cpu pricing.

Those whom saying RT is 100% worth it for the cost. I think this video gives a reason why RT isn't worrh it for me at moment. Yes there are difference. Yes it visible but is it really worth it? Certainly not in this game. And that why I keep saying it's game dependant.

If you play Minecraft as your most played game, yeah probably worth making sure your card can handle it. If you play games like F1 22 then it isn't that big a thing and end day seems like. Especially for only 58ps RT on compared to 160fps for RT off on a 4090!

I've basically ignored CPU stuff since, I won't be moving to DDR5 till I get 2-4x the amount of RAM I have now for a reasonable price. But your post made me curious so I checked HUBs review. I'm assuming by spanked you meant on price and not performance because there was hardly any difference in performance

I see a lot of talk about the importance of RT performance, does that mean that divnell and Ryder_1990 are going to be having some new friends joining soon, or are people not putting their money where their mouths are.

Ryder_1990 had already offloaded the 4080 and upgraded to a 4090

I guess the AIB reviews are still embargoed? Saw some unboxing videos where some had received them but weren’t allowed to unbox them yet.

You do realise yanks pay tax on purchases and it is added at checkout, right?

Which makes 0 difference to my point

difference between 1000 and 12000 is 20%
1000+5% = 1050
1200+5% = 1260
difference between 1050 to 1260 is 20%

You can't include tax on US prices as they differ state by state with some states having 0 tax

:cry::cry::cry:

Doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.

Yeah, you should look in the mirror while saying that sir :p:cry::D

I found Cyberpunk to be the biggest let down ever. I played it on Ps5 when it was all good to go. The game play was not to my liking so no amount of graphics meant anything. Farcry 6 was much more to my liking and it was not even a good Farcry but better for me.

As for the 7900xtx i am a bit disappointed but faster in raster, cheaper and only 16% behind in RT compared to a 4080 it's not as bad as some are making out. In RT it's faster than the last gen was in comparison so a step forward. Take away RT which only a few care about and it's a middle of the road gpu release. It does stink of fine wine though as the dual shader units should get more utilized in time.

No accounting for taste I guess. FC 6 was boring imo :D

It wreaks and got wrecked.

Depends which state I believe?

Yep. Some are no tax like Alaska.

Who said something about 7700 having power issue and problems with multi monitor setups?

I had watched the hardware unboxed video and power consumption/driver issues for this card was the biggest put off...

The pricing is out of whack but I blame that on Nvidia where AMD is just slotting in just under... they'd gain market share with people more likely to take the risk on going with them if they had left nvidia hanging with there ripp off pricing.

As it stands though I couldn't careless about either cards, anything near £1000 needs to have its sht together.. power consumption problems and drivers issues is simply not good enough.

I don't have a problem plying with DLSS (where it has a good implementation) and in general, for me, RT does matter just as much as that extra little salt to a good meal. For instance, if I were to spend eur1000 or so, then I'll keep the money until I have enough for a rtx4080. Or a 4090 if it will be at MSPR at some point. There's also DLSS 3 for those who want this... 7900xtx, to me, would only be of interest right now at $450, maybe $500 max.

Granted, is not everyone's cup of tea and for sure I'm not paying silly money for these cards. We'll see what's up in the 300, maybe 400 euro segment next year. If nothing interesting, oh well, there's always next gen :)
