AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

I think the disappointing thing for me is that the price performance just isn't good enough to stop me spending a little more to get a 4080. Well, that would be the case if I intended buying a GPU, but to me both the 4080 and 7900xtx are overpriced so I will be missing this generation.

Both manufacturers need to get a grip on reality if they hope to sell in the numbers they used to. You know I have this terrible feeling, though, that they will blame a decline in PC gaming, without realising that they caused it by overpricing their products.

AIB card reviews have been published in China

Even the Red Devil seems to only run slightly higher clocks and only just faster than the reference card. Temps and noise a hell of a lot better than reference though so there is that.
I like the box it comes in.

I'd love to read the comments.

Actually tier one H20 cards always run same boost clocks as their air cooled counterparts.

So a Nitro and Toxic have same clocks.
As do a Devil and water cooled devil.

The advantage comes from lower temps allowing the higher boost clocks to be held longer.

Max out of box clocks seem to be 2510MHz Game clock and 2680MHz Boost clock which so far I’ve seen on Nitro and Aorus cards.

I bow to thy knowledge Lord Gibbo, King Of the GPU Pyramids.

Happy to update my post if you post the boost clocks of the 7900XTX Suprim X, Toxic and OC Formula :D

Can't translate it apparently? It's fine. I'm sure it's just an echo chamber.

I wonder if AMD have launched the XT at a deliberately high price point and are waiting for the 4070ti before working out how much to cut it - how odd to be waiting for an Nvidia card to help cut the price of an AMD one :p

I'm hoping they fix/improve the clockspeed/efficiency and deliver a solid 7800 range.

TBH people need to calm down, AMD will sort the issues out, I cannot remember a launch from AMD that was perfect on day one.
A month or two and better cards with better cooling and drivers that are not a pile of crap (have to remember it's a new architecture) will hopefully be out and address things that now cause issues with games, power, multi-monitor Etc.
Nvidia has not really had to do a full driver rewrite in years, as the architecture never really changes much.

Go ahead and be a beta tester then and pay for the privilege :)

Honestly even if they fix the driver bugs it seems there are issues. Unless they suddenly get the 1.65x of the 6950xt and within the 5-10% of the 4090 then it is never going to be what AMD showed a month ago. Add to that the awful power consumption and that wont go anywhere. It makes my 6900xt feel very comfortable at its power to performance envlope tbh.

Yes but this is a £1000 card.

It might be £1000+ But that is the way the market is, not saying it's good or bad, but not much we can do about it unless everyone says no way in hell are we paying those prices.
And that's not happening.
Now, as for being a beta tester, ain't we all for every new tech that comes out.

Now I can go and buy a 4090 if I want to. But I have more sense.
I play at 2560x1440p and have a 3080 and 6800xt. Both cards are good.
Now even if I played at 4k I still would rather not buy a 4090. That's not to say I wouldn't like one.
Just with the way bills are creeping up and income dropping, I would rather use those funds for other things, that's just my choice.
We all knew AMD's rt performance would not be close to 4080, but the raster performance seems really good on games where it works correctly.

Couple months time I hope they have sorted out some issues.

Does anyone know if the EK waterblocks for the reference xtx cards fit the reference xt cards? Or am I going to have to put my big boy pants on and get an xtx

The thing that is giving me slight hope is the insane performance of Modern Warfare 2 on the 7900XTX, easily beating out 4090 - I'm just hoping the drivers are so bad that there is still a lot of potential in the card still & AMD just have had an awful driver situation - it feels like one of those cards that will take a lot of time to hone to something good - may check in again in a year when the prices drop, for now my 6800XT is giving me great performance now.....no game I play struggles on it - yep you guessed it, lots of driver work later, it's really good now, best price performance card out there.

true but its still a hell of a card for that price, IF RT is your thing then 100% the 4080 should be your minimum purchase as per the reviews it oblitorates the 7900 series and for that matter any other older cards, i own only one rt game and that is cyberpunk, the rest of my collection are just standard run of the mill stuff, in my use case the 7900xtx makes a lot of sence, 30-40% uplift from my card (6900xt), i game exclusivly at 4k and from the reviews the new cards are a healthy jump up.

are people forgetting about amd's new technologies that are coming out in 2023 in future driver releases, in the reveal event they talked about new FSR3 and much more, revewers only had access to early game drivers, i suspect when drivers are sorted out the xt/xtx will push past the 4080 easily and get close to the 4090, it's just gonna take time.
i'd bet we'll see a 4080 ti from nvidia soon
