2pm, Gibbo already psoted OCUK prices. £1050 for the XTX and £980 for the XT.

That is incorrect.

When will the 6900xt formula go up in price? Still deciding whether to get this or the 7900 xtx.

Apologies, edited to fix the XT price.

still amusing as can see made right choice with 4080 considering extremely short availability for these new cards in europe and because all the upcoming games I want will be playable just with RT at 4k at console lvl fps maybe higher at times depending on optimization with DLSS enabled so should last me until the next gen at which point can probably still get most of the money back from what I spent towards the new card
Well with a username like you do, there was never really a choice was there?

It might be £1000+ But that is the way the market is, not saying it's good or bad, but not much we can do about it unless everyone says no way in hell are we paying those prices.
And that's not happening.
Now, as for being a beta tester, ain't we all for every new tech that comes out.

Now I can go and buy a 4090 if I want to. But I have more sense.
I play at 2560x1440p and have a 3080 and 6800xt. Both cards are good.
Now even if I played at 4k I still would rather not buy a 4090. That's not to say I wouldn't like one.
Just with the way bills are creeping up and income dropping, I would rather use those funds for other things, that's just my choice.
We all knew AMD's rt performance would not be close to 4080, but the raster performance seems really good on games where it works correctly.

Couple months time I hope they have sorted out some issues.

Problem is that launching a product with issues has a lasting effect on sales. Those review videos will be up there on youtube long after AMD have fixed the problems. I think I would have accepted the mixed response to the 7900 had it been a reasonable price, but it's not. It may well be better value than the 4080 but we all know the 4080 is wildly overpriced. Had AMD priced the 7900xtx sensibly, say £800, then I think they could have afforded these neutral reviews but at £1000+ it just doesn't offer good enough value over the 4080 to persuade more than a few NVIDIA fan-boys to turn to AMD. I know, certainly, right now, if I had a will to spend £1300, I would buy a 4080 over a 7900. I just don't want to spend that sort of money for a product that may not even do what I bought it for.

The thing that is giving me slight hope is the insane performance of Modern Warfare 2 on the 7900XTX, easily beating out 4090 - I'm just hoping the drivers are so bad that there is still a lot of potential in the card still & AMD just have had an awful driver situation - it feels like one of those cards that will take a lot of time to hone to something good - may check in again in a year when the prices drop, for now my 6800XT is giving me great performance now.....no game I play struggles on it - yep you guessed it, lots of driver work later, it's really good now, best price performance card out there.

MW2 is heavily AMD favoured so it's n outlier unfortunately, even the RDNa2 cards beat Nvidia equivalents, so I don't think it's a sign of some untapped potential under the hood. Performance will go up anyway, it always does with AMD because their drivers are essentially beta drivers for several months after launch so that's to be expected. Other AMD dominant games like AC Valhalla or Far Cry 6 have lost their shine and AMD no longer easily tops the chart, which I suspect is more likely to suggest that the 4090 is in no danger of being overtaken by the 7900xtx. And Nvidia has some of its own outliers as well , but it doesn't mean the 4090 has some untapped potential.
