AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

That is incorrect.

Sapphire MBA cards, £899 and £1049 including VAT and delivery to loyal forum members. :)
Over 1000 in stock.
Another 1000 in reserve if we need it!

What a launch, well done AMD, proper launch with a tonne of stock! :)

How is XT stock vs XTX?

I saw some theories that XT stock would be low because it requires a failed XTX die and since the die is just 300mm the yield rates will be high so there just won't be many XT dies

If it wasn't for the power consumption I bet AMD could easily double the die to match the 608mm 4090 and release a monster gpu. Perhaps that is on the cards once they iron out all the bugs and improve efficiency.
The XT is not worth it even if it was £750 imo. The performance increase over a 3090 or 6950Xt is simply not enough. The 7900XTX is good but I still wouldn't pay over £800 for any of the new cards.

Best scenario would be that no one buys the 4080 or 7900xtx and both get a $200 on price cut early next year

It's mental that £1000+ is now acceptable. We are in a cost of living crisis with energy bills through the roof but now people are like 'well.. If I am spending a grand I might aswell spend £1700 so my pc can outperform a £450 console'

I was also thinking how Nvidia received major backlash going by 4080=4070 arguments. The irony of the situation is amd here obfuscated the market, not by 1 but 2 tiers (because 4080=4070) and those influencers somehow aren't drumming this up like they did with Nvidia.
Also, Nvidia had to cancel the 4080 12G, now this will look silly if the card achieves perf parity with the 7900xt. It's a perfect example of the market being worse off because of clickbait loving influencers, still strange why AMD has come out of this relatively unscathed

This is only really problem in Europe.

These cards are priced for the US market & consumer where energy bills & inflation haven't hit anywhere near to the same degree.

You should have hedged against the price rises like the rest of us!

We have over 500 of each!
With another 500-1000 of each available on MBA.

Custom cards Jan/Feb in volume.

Is there any custom cards available today ie instock, think you mentioned before 99% mba so what is the 1% :p

Yes literally a handful of Nitro and Devil, 10-20 units each. The price is not nice due to lack of supply, the prices for sure will be at least £100 cheaper in February on the custom cards.

MW2 is heavily AMD favoured so it's n outlier unfortunately, even the RDNa2 cards beat Nvidia equivalents, so I don't think it's a sign of some untapped potential under the hood. Performance will go up anyway, it always does with AMD because their drivers are essentially beta drivers for several months after launch so that's to be expected. Other AMD dominant games like AC Valhalla or Far Cry 6 have lost their shine and AMD no longer easily tops the chart, which I suspect is more likely to suggest that the 4090 is in no danger of being overtaken by the 7900xtx. And Nvidia has some of its own outliers as well , but it doesn't mean the 4090 has some untapped potential.

Like you say, other traditionally good AMD titles are not up to scratch, so really, its probably those that show there is some reasonable potential in it yet - after a year id guess a general 7-10% increase in performance which fits its price category.

true but its still a hell of a card for that price, IF RT is your thing then 100% the 4080 should be your minimum purchase as per the reviews it oblitorates the 7900 series and for that matter any other older cards, i own only one rt game and that is cyberpunk, the rest of my collection are just standard run of the mill stuff, in my use case the 7900xtx makes a lot of sence, 30-40% uplift from my card (6900xt), i game exclusivly at 4k and from the reviews the new cards are a healthy jump up.

are people forgetting about amd's new technologies that are coming out in 2023 in future driver releases, in the reveal event they talked about new FSR3 and much more, revewers only had access to early game drivers, i suspect when drivers are sorted out the xt/xtx will push past the 4080 easily and get close to the 4090, it's just gonna take time.
i'd bet we'll see a 4080 ti from nvidia soon

There seem to be two outlooks in the world at the moment. Those who remember the days when the bar moved for each generation but the price didn't, and those who just look at the power increase and don't remember the times before all the mess happened. The 7900 is not one hell of a card for the money! It has a slightly above average generational improvement, but is pitched at a price that is consistant with miners, scalpers and shortages all being a problem - which they aren't. Prices should fall to something much closer to the way they were before all this mess started. The fact that they haven't will stop many people upgrading every two years. I mean honestly, I am not sure I will ever justify £1000+ for a graphics card.
