AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

Yes, but I’d be surprised if there was any significant downward pressure in a month - supply might even push it the other direction.
The supply issues were just a myth, there was always plenty of supply for a normal market it was just that the supply couldn't keep up with the unlimited demand from crypto miners.

That's all gone now and gaming demand was well down due to higher CoL even before they decided to go for car crash pricing this time around.

Other AMD advantages:

  • Software seems better.
  • Arguably just as good upscaling (can't be including "arguably points in a bullet list to increase numbers...)
  • Probably won't melt in your PC

Won't argue with the others, so that makes it 8-5. Except I don't care about:

  • Cuda
  • VR
  • Recording/Streaming

Makes it 5-5. Then price is a differentiating factor...

Recording/Streaming: yeah i would argue for now the image quality is slightly better on Nvidia, i did notice the difference but honestly Nvidia is really really good while AMD's is just realy good. Having said that both have AV1 and AI now....

Cuda, absolutly if you have use for it, if you're just gaming..... meh, inconsequential. VR, don't know.

Yes AMD's Software is better more featured, it just is, much better.

That's what the click bait sites are running with. Give a link if you have a better source.
As I said it’s on many media sites but I’m not sure what specifically you are looking for here. Like mentioned earlier sales numbers are secret but you do get little glimpses (aside from the leaks) from the financial statements. Whilst AMD doesn’t have its 7900 data in its latest statement it did overtake Nvidia for gaming sales. This is about as concrete as it’s going to get.

200k is not a bad launch number. Even if half those are xtx that already outsold the 4080 since it’s launch.
The 4080 is frankly just **** poor for £1200 but we shouldn't let AMD off the hook either, last gen their 1k card delivered top tier raster performance with good efficiency yet this time around its just slightly faster than Nvidias 80 (which is really a 70) while using a lot more power.

Ideally consumers should be leaving both cards on the shelf but I guess if you have to buy one then AMD is the lesser of 2 evils and Nvidia does need to be taught a lesson for their arrogance and contemp towards consumers.

We're gonna find out soon who's greedy and who's ready to sacrifice margin

As we know, the 7900xtx is much cheaper to make than the rtx4080, so AMD has more room to move on price. If we assume both models sell poor then AMD should start doing large price cuts on the rx7900 series, let's wait and see if they do

The price of the XT already has been cut where I shop but it was overpriced anyway; it was priced at equal to $1150 at launch, now it's $1000 after the price cut. The XTX is still showing prices of $1300 and the RTX4080 has prices starting at $1100 all the way to $2000

TBH both players are completely unreasonable on prices, I've been a loyal ATI/AMD user for almost 20 years but for the past 5 the main reason for such a choice is that they discount their mid range cards a lot deeper than NVIDIA.
Frankly both upscaling and RT are imho gimmicks that show us we're not in the 4K era yet, but at best in the 1440p one. Performance per dollar tanked instead of increasing and things starts making sense only when you look below the top tiers.

The last 2 gens x7 should have been the flagships and RT introduced a lot more gradually, this way instead we get all the insanity of a card costing like an entire system 5 years ago!

EDIT: censorship made my post look a lot more rude than intended.

Agree on one hand, but lets be real virtually nobody on this forum thought the latter. Its only in the past 6 months due to heavy discounts that people revisited the 6900XT and thought you know what..

At least this gen people have been slapped in the face to wake them up that its greedy pricing is raising the lower tiers up progressively and they basically dont care. AMD is no saint but you check out their 6000 series over 2022 and you will see they have price changes that reflect it. The 6600-6700 cards have been way better value.
