AMD RDNA3 unveiling event

I wonder where this idea came from in AMDs announcement they did say dec 13, unless people got it mixed up with the "not 4080 12gb unlaunch 4070ti relaunch" scenario
I think it's probably just me getting mixed up with something else or reading some inaccurate out of date speculation from before the announcement last time I googled it or something :p

People always say that and it's never worked before when they have so I can't imagine they will bother doing that any more.
this was arguably the best time to do it with nvidia charging mental prices but they want some more of the higher price per product but fewer sales trick

would have gained amd a **** load of goodwill and marketshare but they went the greed way instead

The problem you have is that everyone always wants AMD to come in cheaper, but they want them cheaper so Nvidia lowers their prices this only works if people want AMD to be cheaper then buy AMD as a result and frankly that just doesn't happen.

so like i said now was the best time with nvidia price fixing its cards to force you to buy old stock amd could have done a number on them but chose not to

But the point is it doesn't matter to AMD, they have lower prices, Nvidia respond and people still buy Nvidia even if they are stil hundreds more. It really would have just meant the same people whom was buying AMD already was just going to be buying cheaper not that they would suddenly see a 10-15% market share increase and greater sales and this has been shown for the last decade even when it has previously made sense with same argument.

But i don't really get the argument. Stuff naturally increases in price overtime.

I paid £750 for a 1080ti in 2018 on OCUK. The 7900XTX is a £999 card 3 generations later for the class equivalent only being £250 more isn't too bad considering the absolute mess our economy is. AMDs card is $100 less than their top tier 6950XT from last gen at $1099.

For me to get a new graphics card in the same class 6 years later, skipping 2 generations entirely alongside, brexit, covid, war, energy crisis, economic crisis and the worst cost of living crisis since records began, for it to ONLY be £250-£300 more expensive all things considered is pretty damn impressive.

It should also be pointed out that the 1080ti WAS NOT Nvidias Halo card that would be the Titan which retailed the hundreds more, which they eventually rebranded into the 90 class series.

Now Nvidia are taking the mick with the 4080 prices that's to be agreed but AMD all things considering it's not bad at all.

Now if you expect a specific class of product to remain the same price 6-8 years in the future, after several iterations, almost a decade of inflation, econimic/global changes and still have it at the same price, well i don't know what to say. But i'd like a passport to that Utopia that you live in.

This year alone we have had 10-15% inflation that alone would slap another £75-£100 to the cost of what i paid for my 1080ti back in 2018 and that's in only 8 months!
