i think we have gone core crazy when are we going to be happy 20 cores or what .

Yup, im in that boat too. At the moment, I'm edging on Intel X58 and a 920 as it appears that X58 will get 6 cores later on and the intel nehalem architecture seems better than the AMD phenom maybe having more headroom for future chips. This adds a little spice to AM3 though!
6 Cores for Supreme Commander 2 in 2010![]()
Unclear if it's going to support AM2+ DDR2 though.
It's perfectly clear: TFA says AM3. AM3 doesn't support DDR2. AM2+ however has support for both DDR2 and DDR3, but an AM3 chip will only function in an AM2+ board if it's got DDR3 memory.
So basically - it's not going to support DDR2.
I believe that is incorrect, you can run the Phenom II 550 (and most likely other AM3 processors) in an AM2+ DDR2 motherboard. AM3 CPUs have dual memory controllers.
This is NOT a clear cut issue or "perfectly clear" like you make it sound, these chips are most likely based off of the 6 core server part called Istanbul which CAN use DDR2 memory. I say this because Deneb was based off the 4 core server part Shanghai, so its reasonable to assume this is gonna be a desktop Istanbul.

Multiple cores are blatantly going to be the way forwards. We could end up looking at kilo-cores as a way of comparing CPU's in the future. Clock speeds have stalled, so it seems fairly reasonable to believe this.
Lol what on earth running as a background application could tax a quadcore enough to justify a sexacore?well actually is that the speed limit (which you can go faster) or the max safe speed IE on a tight bend![]()
and some are multi thread just not very good at itoh btw think of what you have running in the background
