AMD Releases Final R600 Spec

there is no longer a need for the external cable found on the Radeon X1000 series CrossFire. There is no Master card, as was the case with other high-end CrossFire setups. Any Radeon X2900 can act as the Master card.
thats a good one!
btw what could be the price for X2900 XTX with 1gb memmory? i was hoping to align with the market and not to pay more than 300 quid :/

I seem to remember everyone saying the same thing about every single card ever released. "OMG it uses so much power my PC will explode".

Interesting the parallels between the 9700 and the geforce 5 series

where geforce 5 could not do dx9 correctly and now they are saying the 8800 is not a true dx10 card

this could be why nvidia cannot get vista drivers out also how it struggles in 360 ports not saying this is the case but is a bit suss

i know the 360 uses ati hardware but is still some sort of dx9-10 hybrid in the 360 so you think a nvidia card if it was dx compliant would handle it better

Damn, was hoping for a release in midmarch :p .
Oh well, just means it'll coincide with my new keyboard and mousemat.
My 700W PSU should be able to take this card fine, but I won't get 2 just yet  .
Any idea as to when they will be available for preorder?

who is saying its's not a true DX10 card ?

microsoft & nvidia seem to claim it is fully DX10. no hardware seems to have working vista drivers, it's quite usual for this to be the case with a new OS. microsoft tinkered with vista until the last minute and are still tinkering, like trying to hit a moving target!

It's neither. DirectX is an application/hardware interface, it's basically how the program communicates with the graphics card (in this case). With the 360 it's a set piece of hardware. Everyone of them is exactly the same, meaning the games can be coded for that set spec. So an a/h interface isn't as prominent.

Anything goes ;) Now we got comments like Geforce 8800 isnt a true DX10 card

I think we would have to wait another 3-4 weeks untill we see ATIs R600 and its own DX10 hardware/Drivers before judgement of Nvidias DX10 hardware/Drivers.

Nvidia are scheduled to release their true vista/dx10 drivers next week, so that should make things interesting

Sorry, misunderstanding there.

Here's whats been quoted from "ether.real":

I am currently at PDX, and they had a sweet presentation from nVidia. The highlights include:

-Vista WHQL drivers for the 8800 next week, with new revisions coming in March!

-plabable beta for Crysis on DX10 and G80!!!!!

And let me tell you....it looked absolutely ********.

I'd be surprised if that model was less than £450 on release. You might be able to get the XT for not much more than £300 though, we'll have to wait and see.

looks like my birthday will be a good time to go card shopping, ATI with the new cards and Nvidia with the refresh range as usual should mean some good buys to be had :)

aye as a dual card setup job i think it says...will see at release anyway...as i think in a couple of months i might jump on the dx10 card bandwagon...depending on cashflow hehe
