Good question, it doesn't state if these are to be socket 939 or AM2.

definately look like opterons but they dont have unlocked mulitpliers so there will still be a market for the fx60.

They are Opterons - no question.
185 is 1 way 2.6GHz DC Opty (possibly socket 939)
285 is 1-2 way 2.6GHz DC Opty (almost certainly socket 940)
885 is 1-8 *** 2.6GHz DC Opty (again, almost certainly socket 940)

Just checked what I've said above (which was guesswork btw) on http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/opteron/

I am right on all counts
185 is 939, 285 & 885 are 940.

For the price you might as well go with a FX60, unless there's a super stepping that hits more than 3-3.1GHz.

Not really, if you look at the specs for the FX60 HT is 2000Mhz, where as the on board memory controller (why have they named it differently?) for the Opteron 185 is 2.6Ghz.

That's quite a difference...

That's quite a difference...

HT speed will be the same on socket 939 for both the FX and the Opteron. The HT speed is not linked in that way to the onboard memory controller. (afaik)

Correct, the speed the CPU communicates with the memory is at the full processor speed. The HTT link on socket 939 is 1000mhz in each direction, regardless of the processor sitting in the socket.
