Overclocks like a beast

A nice improvement over the 5800k, but that can be had sub £100, and I don't think the 6800k justifies a ~20-25% premium

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18447230&highlight=Trinity

That's launch at circa 100.
So it's over 25% premium in price. At least from Overclockers.

That said, even at a place where the A10 68 is cheaper, the A10 58 was also cheaper, so it's still a 25% premium which ever way it's sliced :p

Google is your friend.

Massive, huge, gigantic !! Launch price hike aside (Of about a tenner). It looks like a great lil chip ! Ideal for HTPC etc. Roll on Kaveri should be an even better improvement.

I found some more reviews, and is possible they can be arranged along the lines of the A10-6700 and A10-6800K??

The A10-6700 bests the A10-5800K and consumes less power too.

5800k vs 6800k

So it's better power management but the CPU part is only about 10% faster than a 5800K with a 200MHz speed increase?
Can crossfire with a 7750 now which is slightly faster again for not much more money while the 1GB GDDR5 is still the better option.

Good if you wanted to get an iGPU based AMD system but not interesting enough if you have a 5800k already.

Here is a youtube link showing 3dmark11 and windows index rating for the 4770k 3.5ghz Haswell. Not overclocked.

This is around 10-20fps slower than the 6800k in most games. And almost twice the price!!

CPU = + 5 to 10%
iGPU = + 10 to 20% and <40%> faster than HD 4600.

I think the most interesting thing is overclocking, 4.8 to 5.0Ghz, that's WAY higher than Trinity, and very good indeed.

Hopefully there will be a Piledriver refresh with that in the next couple of weeks.

Something is different about the iGPU, its not GCN, but there is no way a 5% higher clock (800Mhz to 844Mhz) accounts for + ~20% higher performance, it would be more like 2 or 3%

There is meant to be improved power distribution between the CPU and IGP IIRC.

Richland has official support for 2133mhz Ram. Some reviews have used 2133mhz in Richland vs 1866 in Trinity for comparison. And you can be sure AMD did that too.

In the HC review they uses 2400MHZ DDR3 for all the systems which was downclocked to 1600MHZ.
.

Indeed they did. And in their review, the IGP results were generally around 5% better than Trinity. Which matches very well the ~5% boost in GPU clock between Trinity and Richland.

Almost all of the boost above the 5% you see elsewhere is down to sleight of hand, such as memory speeds.

Its more than 5% ^^^

Edit!!

Reviews updated.

yup.

Human revolution +16%

Dirt3 +7%

Skyrim +9%

I'm sure running higher Memory speed vs Trinity would help a bit, but clearly that's far from all that's going on here, HC are running 1600Mhz on both Richland and Trinity (its apples for apples) and yet even in the CPU dependant Dirt 3 and Skyrim gets 7 to 10%, Human revolution is 16%

The iGPU its self has got a boost. quite a significant one at that.

Also, the A10-6700 has an IGP which has 10% higher clockspeeds too over the A10-5700. The A10-6700 is the star of the show here,as they have improved performance in all metrics over the A10-5800K at lower power consumption.

It really does look like a great HTPC CPU IMHO.

Richland is certainly much more of an improvement over Trinity than was expected, given that the prediction was (myself included) that it would just be a slightly higher clocked Trinity, perhaps with some small power improvements.

It is much more than that, the power improvement is there, the higher clocks are there, but surprisingly the iGPU is 10% faster in its own right.

And after Trinity reviewers despairing at not being able to push past 4.4 to 4.6Ghz at best, Richland gets to 4.8Ghz without much effort, one got it to 4.9 and another thought it might do 5Ghz with a bit more time fine tuning the clocks and volts. That's really good.

I agree the 6700 is great, but the 6800K, com on..... how much do you want to try an hit 5Ghz? if only just to show off... :D
