Hello,

I get all the excitement with the new NVidia cards. However, there is some great deals out there for the AMD RX 5700 XT cards. My monitor is a freesync 3440 x 1440, I'm not interested in 4k, streaming, just playing top end games. Surely the AMD cards are still worth considering?

I just had a look, i can't see any :p

With December being AMD's time to shine, it's worth waiting for then. The 5700xt is on my radar too, along with xbox :p
Just waiting on prices and performance.

They seem to be going up in price. I only started looking recently and last week it seemed anything sub-£400 was a good deal. Now they're over £500..

With non-existent stock for RDNA2, prices have gone up a lot; same with Zen2 CPUs.

Yeah fair one. I was only going to settle for 5700 XT because I couldn't get a 3070. Now it seems these suffer the same inflation so no point.

Aside from some possible deals on SSDs and PSUs I think I'll postpone my build until things get sensible. Shame to have a case and motherboard sitting there for months. Hope the motherboard isn't faulty :p

How can the 5700XT be worth £450 if it was competing against the old 2070? Even the 3070 has an RRP of £450 which replaces the 2070!

The 5700XT is only worth about £250 as previously stated by greatash.

The fact that the 3070 is selling for more that it's RRP is irrelevant.

That's exactly why I can't bring myself to paying scalper prices. Could have had an FE 3070 today on Gumtree, the lowest they would go to was £575 and I couldn't do it.
Very happy to wait until stock levels out.

5700XT is closer to the 2070 Super after recent driver updates.

Also, where can you get a 3070 at that price, and where can you get a 2070 Super for a decent price?

If you’d rather wait until stock levels normalise (probably closer to March next year), the 5700XT at £400 is a good buy and can be sold off after. If you’re buying a 5700XT, you’re not looking at a 3070, you’re looking at a 3080/6800XT as that’s the only meaningfully jump.

I never said you could buy a 3070 for £450. I was stating what it's worth. The price it should be. The 2070 super and 5700xt aren't worth anything close to £450 because they're much slower.

tbf you can pick up a 5700xt for £350 before all the black friday crap started, i got my 5600xt for £260 but didnt think the 5700xt was worth the extra £100.

the price of cards right now is just down to demand, i just sold an RX580 on ebay for £10 less then it cost me new 2/3 years ago.
Cyber monday is coming.. if you looking to buy.
