EDIT 31.10.2020 - A big collection of benchmarks are listed here too https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-dis...900xt-rx-6800xt-and-rx-6800-gaming-benchmarks

--------------

Thought this was worth a separate thread so it didn't get lost in the Navi and Ampere ones. Some guy on Reddit has compiled a list of all AMD RX6000 performance data apparently tested by AMD and including Nvidia cards: https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/jkq11y/rx6000_series_performance_analysis_official_data/

Conclusion (taken from Reddit):

At 2K, 6900 XT is about 7% faster than 3090, 6800 XT is slightly faster than 3090 (1.5%), 6800 XT is about 10% faster than 3080, 6800 is close to 3080 (5% slower), faster than 2080ti and 3070 about 20%.

At 4K, 6900 XT is about 3% faster compared to 3090, which we can say they are on par with each other. 6800 XT is about 5% slower than 3090, 6800 XT is about 5% faster than 3080, 6800 is about 15% faster than 2080 Ti and 3070.

All data from AMD official web, there is the possibility of AMD selection of their preferred games, but it is real data.

My conclusion is that 6800 XT probably close to 3090, and 6800 is aimed at 3070ti/super. By the way, all the above tests have enabled AMD's smart access memory, but the rage mode has not been mentioned.

Very interesting performance data an I'm looking forward to seeing review benches and minimum framerates , especially when combined with a 5900x. :)

Great find thanks for the share, and agree with some OC on the 6800 you got a winner (outside of RT).
I think I will grab a 6800XT given the (relatively) low price increase.

If these numbers are correct I am genuinely curious how Nvidia are going to answer, I doubt releasing the rumoured 3070 Ti and 3080 Ti is going to be enough unless they do substantial price drops.

Yeah, I think pricing will be a problem for Nvidia and I doubt they can lower it too much due to the high costs of the cards to manufacture.

Now we have the wait for the real side by side comparison in non-synthetic benchmarks.
Frankly, I don't care who wins, all I'd like is for some competition to push down prices from both manufacturers.
Indeed, this kind of competition (finally) is all good for the consumer.

If raytracing was the same performance as Ampere then I'd jump ship to 5900x and 6900 XT. But when Nvidia has DLSS it's hard too right now
DLSS, as neat as it is, isn't really a huge factor right now (despite Nvidia marketing wanting you to believe otherwise) on cards with 3080-level performance and above as they can anyway run 4k at decent frames. DLSS is only really significant for lower cards that need the performance boost like 3070 and especially lower.

by the time DLSS matters on a 3080-or-above class cards, AMD will have their own solution that we know they are working to bring to market.

How can you say DLSS doesn't matter? It's the only way to play Watch Dogs at 4K with raytracing near 60fps

Any game engine that is unoptimised enough to require DLSS to run at playable framerates on a flagship card at 4k with some RT effects enabled, when other games don't, only confirms what I said. Ubisoft are the pits and to think that DLSS really matters because it's the only way to play their crappy games is hilarious.

The game has a ton of problems https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/jk21s8/warning_watch_dogs_legion_currently_has_terrible/

dlss is absolutely needed to get playable ray tracing performance on any gpu for sale today from Nvidia or amd.
DLSS was the only way I was able to achieve playable frame rates in Control and Metro Exodus at 1440p on RTX 2080. I suspect it will also be needed for CP2077. DLSS is even more important than RTX for me considering my 144hz monitor.
This all confirms that RT in its current implementation is not yet ready for prime time in this generation, and considering that AMD will have their own version of DLSS it's not somethng that would make me buy a 3080 instead of a 6800XT.

It’s all guff until independent unbias reviewers get the offerings from red team and green team and pit them against each other.

Then we will see if AMDs claims actually hold water. Place your bets.
My bets are that Big Navi will at worst be roughly on a par with their Ampere counterparts, which is all I expected from them and I consider that a big success. However, it may be that a powerful Zen3 will be needed to squeeze out the extra few % of performance from them vs when they are paired with Intel rigs.

They've left it too tight. More Vram is not enough to tempt people who already own a 3080 and can see there's no issue, but it might tempt people upgrading from previous generations depending on the price.

If a 3080ti comes along it will probably have to outperform the 3090 which would be unlikely as they'd only want the next generation to be doing that.

If they want to squeeze AMD then I think price drops are the most likely route as opposed to new models that will only cannibalise their own sales.
There are far, far more people on the waiting list for a 3080 than actually own one. My view is that if I was on that waiting list, having seen what AMD has launched and with strong suspicions that Nvidia are going to release a new better-specced card sooner rather than later, I would be cancelling that pre-order to avoid a strong sense of buyers remorse.

It's not the time to cancel pre orders because the AMD stock situation is an unknown; why leave one endless queue to join another?
I think you misunderstood my post. It's not about Nvidia or AMD stock (though AMD is sure to better than Nvidia on launch as it can't get any worse than that), it's about buying a card (in this case the 10GB 3080) that may soon be superceded by a better one with more VRAM as a knee-jerk response to Big Navi. I don't buy a card I don't feel is the best choice just because I'm already in a queue.

If you are on the Ampere waiting list and are happy for someone to have almost a grand of your money for weeks and maybe months, while you sit twiddling your thumbs, then by all means go ahead.

You're predicting a card that hasn't been announced and stock levels you can't possibly know exist until we see how the launch goes.

To be honest, I regret quoting your post and getting involved so happy to leave it at that.

It's clear that Nvidia have to respond to Big Navi with something to retain the performance crown, that is crucial for them and that's why we are seeing a splurge of new rumours on the usual sites. I will aim to be buying a 6800XT because from what we have seen so far and the benchmarks that have been released it looks like a better deal in terms of value and spec than the 3080. No way would I be silly enough to pay money immediately for something like a GPU and then willingly wait months to get what I paid for... to me that's a mugs game.

No clue why people think amd should have demonstrated their product with an intel cpu.
Agreed, that doesn't even make sense. It was a promotion of both RDNA2 and Zen3... why would they demo on Intel? The mind boggles.

Reviewers need to test on both AMD and Intel platforms, and may undoubtedly will (Gamers Nexus and Hardware Unboxed) but to think AMD need to present RDNA2 on anything but Zen3 makes no sense.

More to the point, why release anything else when you can't even get the card you launched a few weeks ago into a decent state of supply. RTX 3080 is still the fastest card around @ £649 and RTX 3090 is still the fastest card at any price point. Both are the only game in town currently for AI upscaling and hardware based RT. Big navi might have an answer to that soon, but as of today don't.

Big Navi isn't even released to buy yet, it's 3 weeks away, so they only need the answer at or soon after launch. If we all as adults don't have that small level of patience to look at the bigger picture and wait for something that while nice, is hardly a mare or break feature for the next month or two, then there is something wrong

If/When AMD can advertise it's card in stock and has associated software available then the situation may change. I'm not sure that is going to happen much before the end of Q1 2021, which is probably when ti versions would be likely to appear anyway.

I predict that Nvidia are not planning on giving the 10GB 3080 a particularly long lifespan... even just the VRAM size (whether you think it actually matters in the real-world or not) is already becoming a marketing issue.

GPU minimum - 5

That could be for many reasons and is nothing to be concerned about at this point.

They should stick to their current test bench and slowly transition to AMD (if needed) after they have updated previous data to match the new bench. That's the basics of benchmarking, you'd like your data to be comparable.

That said neither GN or HUB are professional benchmarkers as they don't maintain or update their benchmarks at set frequencies. HUB doesn't even maintain a website for querying static data
Eh... they are not "professional benchmarkers"? That makes no logical sense. They do not maintain a benchmark database, but they are professional reviewers... that is their job. They use a scientific methodology to test hardware at a given point in time and as such their results are generally reliable and useful.

I don't know man.. if you are presently stuck between a 970 and 1060 their data is not going to be that useful.

I have engaged with process consultants in a professional capacity..

..the stuff they do is not even close to the kind of reporting and statistical analysis that's expected from a professional benchmarking service..periodic database update is the least that's expected..

I would rate someone like techpowerup as relatively professional in this segment
I think you need to temper your expectations of a review site to more realistic and less anally retentive levels. Throwing in the: "I have consulted with process consultants in a professional capacity" is just LOL in the extreme. :D

GN and HU generally deliver what they need to within the means that they have, which are detailed reviews of current hardware with a good methodology that help you make informed decisions.
