Amd ryzen 5 1500x vs i5 750

Hello, is it worth getting a 1500x when they are released over my i5 750 oc @3.8 ghz?
At this point it would be worth getting any modern CPU over the 750. If you are an overclocker which you seem to be at 3.8 then it would be worth getting the non x and just clocking that to the same speed.

any modern processor from AMD or Intel is going to have a large ipc advantage over a i5 750, gonna need a new mob and memory though whatever as you'll need ddr4 for any modern cpu

Not only will you benefit from a much faster processor but you can also take advantage of the latest technology such as NVME SSDs and DDR4 memory.

It's totally worth the upgrade. If you can hang on for some good reviews to come out we have a sneaky suspicion that the AMD R5 range is going to make Intel's i5 and i3 range obsolete

The 750 is definitely past its time as a prime gaming cpu, bare minimum these days is a highly clocked 2500k. Definitely a big upgrade if you go Ryzen.

While I would agree to go with the non X version, there is no 1500, the model under is the 1400 which is also 4c/8t but has half the l3 cache (16mb vs 8mb). So might be worth going for the 1500X in this case.

Ah i didn't know that. If the price increase is significant then wait for benchmarks otherwise go for it.

Overclock it further these will do 4.2-4.3 ghz easy all day I have a 750 been running it at 4.2 ghz for donkeys years at 1.46 volts
Probably get a nice little bump going from 3.8 to 4.1 ghz + it's certainly still good enough for most games at 4ghz + at 1080p

best bang for buck right now is probably a 2600k if you can source one I can see that chip still being relevant in years from now

The problem with a 2600k is people want silly money for them and the OP would need a decent Z77 motherboard, again silly money and it's a dead end socket. better to put the money into AM4 and have a 8 core upgrade and 4-5 years worth of CPU architecture upgrades.

Will AM4 be a valid platform for future cpu's for a while? Intel take the P when it comes to new chipsets every release.
