Hi

I built a new PC about a year now i've had it and when I installed the processor the heatsink had thermal paste on the heatsink, so i'm just wondering how often I need to clean and re apply new thermal paste for safe temperatures.

Thanks. David

Something like MX4 lasts 5 years +

If you were feeling diligent you could change it every couple years, not exactly expensive.

I leave mine until the temps start rising quite a lot - can take three to four years although depends upon processor temps, type of fan, case cooling and quality of thermal paste. Poor components and/or high temps could be a lot sooner.

I only change mine every 3-4 years but most of the time that is when I am doing an upgrade etc so its a good time to clean everything down and apply new Thermal Paste etc.
