AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Noctua NH-D15S

interesting, will check it out then, it might mean i can justify getting a 5800x instead of 5700x

edit as i can't seem to reply again?! - just checked and the noctua one mentioned is passive too. (can't see a fan on the photos) and looks a bit like my existing cooler (arctic freezer 13)

no idea whats going on , I can no longer reply or post!? "You have insufficient privileges to post threads here."

is that cooler quiet? I'm looking at maybe replacing my current one which is passive/fanless since its a htpc.

At high rpm it's certainly audible, but there's a point of diminishing returns, i.e high rpm doesn't offer significant improvements in temps so you can get great performance are extremely low noise levels.

the 12 and 16 core cpus are the harder ones to cool, 6 and 8 core are quite easy to cool
No, that's mistaken for Ryzen 5000 CPU's. The 5800X (8 core) runs a lot hotter and is much harder to cool than the 5950X (16 core).

The 5800X3D is easier to cool than a 5800X (my 5800x was ~85c with a D15) due to lower clock sheds so a D15 will cool it fine.

In my experience using same 360 aio on both
Going from 5900x to the 5800x3d the 5900x was easier to cool when both are fully stressed

Gaming probably similar that's because the 5800x3d uses less power

Looking to get a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D and use with my Noctua NH-D15S air cooler

Anyone know if it will run ok and keep the temps safe

Thanks

Will be fine it is not as hot as a 5800x.

You still need to give it some good cooling though, unlike the 5600x.

I went from a 5800x to a 5800x3d and it ran cooler. Though I have a 240mm and it does just fine (used to use a 280mm and that was not much better)
