AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I can confirm the issue of my new build (one week old) deciding to stop posting was due to a faulty 9800X3D. After less than a week of usage it unilaterally decided to commit harikari.

Replacing with a 7600X solved the issue.

AMD have accepted the RMA and we shall see how long it takes to come back (although I'm not holding my breath).

I've been looking for CPU/GPU benchmarks showing this CPU with a 7900xt or 7900xtx. Anyone using this combo or point me in the direction of some benchmarks?
Thanks
Scott

I use this with a 7900XTX. Can probably grab some benchmarks if you like, but there’s plenty on YouTube.

It’s a fantastic combo for 4K gaming. Nearly all games run at 60+, and many over 100 with the right settings. Mine personally clocks to over 3ghz which adds further performance.

I use a mix of 4K (Samsung S95C) and high refresh at 1440p (280hz).

Will be upgrading to a 5090, but best believe that the 7900XTX is a beast.

I say that, run to run variance shined down upon me. @Robert896r1 @Poneros

69K, fastest worldwide at this time.

Hi, can you tell me how you manage to get so many fps? I made pbo200 and RAM tune 6200c28 completely stable, tested for 2 days in 10 different stress tests, and I got 57145 score with 373 average fps and 170 minimum. I have 9800x3d with mobo x870e Taichi and latest agesa, rtx 4090, ram g.skill trident z neo 2x16gb 7200c34 xmp. Win 11 Pro latest build.

hes doing manual overclocking not just pbo, from memory his last run was at 5.86ghz all core
There is a 20% difference between our results, the RAM gives very little, I tested my 6400c26 and it gave a measly 2-3% in similar gaming benchmarks and I left the 6200c28 for daily use. It turns out that I need to overclock the processor to 6200 MHz to get closer to its result, which is impossible for this processor without liquid nitrogen.

Please check if I have set the additional settings in the BIOS correctly:
mcr and pdm disabled,
GDM enabled,
amd fTPM switch disabled,
NX mode disabled,
suspend to RAM disabled,
global c-state control enabled,
power supply idle control - typical,
local APIC mode - xAPIC,
SMEE disabled,
CPU speculative store modes - more speculative,
SVM enable disabled,
DF Cstates disabled,
memory interleaving enabled,
memory interleaving size - 256 bytes,
ECC disabled,
BankSwapMode - Swap APU,
IOMMU disabled,
FCH Spread Spectrum disabled,
ECO mode disabled,
PCIe power management features disabled,
DDR5 nitro mode enabled - 1,2,1 Rx burst 8x Tx burst 8x
Fast boot disabled
all other additional settings are auto

matt shenanigans :p

Try -025 or -30 PBO and set +200Mhz for max boost override, scalar x10, and set PBO limits to Enabled. This should pretty much max out performance using PBO and you'll get clock speeds up to 5.425Ghz. A real quick and easy overclock that should be plug and play on all samples.
Is there any benefit to just doing an all core Overclock of 5.4ghz ?

What am I doing wrong here? With these settings my chip never boosts above 5.2ghz, shouldn't it hit 5.4 with those settings? I'm new to AMD!

edit: I've just noticed I'm running a really old BIOS. I didn't think it would even boot with this chip...
