AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Is anyone experiencing problems with core temp on the x870 and 9800x3d? Mine is constantly reporting a core frequency of 1666mhz no matter the load, it seems to be reporting temperatures correctly

Quick question - if moving from a 7800X3D to 9800X3D, should I update the AMD chipset drivers or don't I need to bother?

ALWAYS update chipset drivers. The CPU will likely run fine without updating them, but it is surprising how much difference they can make.

A couple of years ago I noticed horrible performance in a few games and couldn’t diagnose why. Took me ages to discover that it was the chipset drivers.

the best cinebench score I've got so far...
pbo disabled

Yep running the latest version, also running HWinfo. I have always ran them both without problems or conflicts
its not really recommended to run more than 1 monitoring software at the same time, just because it has worked doesn't mean it cant cause conflicts, what does hwinfo say? its most likely fine and just being reported wrong especially if hwinfo is reporting correctly. if it was running at the lower speeds you'd notice sluggish behaviour

Have to say the packaging has gone downhill since the 7000 series.

Admittedly the old style was a bit unnecessary and wasteful but it at least felt nice and premium with the big fold-over flap with magnetic catch.
Now we just get a basic cardboard box a third of the size.
