AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Mine boots and benchmarks with a PBO of -40, scaler of 10x and +200Mhz but stressing is certainly another story
Same, (haven't messed with scaler though). Although I had a couple of big hitches in Helldivers last night so I might go -38 or something. No problems otherwise.

What kind of temps do you get?
I don't think temps was the issue that -40 on PBO fails on OCCT & Prime95, I'm around high 70s low 80s while using those.

I've spent quite a bit of time with tuning my system to the point where it comfortably does OCCT CPU Extreme Steady with AVX2 for 6 hours followed right on with 6 hours of CPU Extreme Steady SSE for another 6 hours without issues. I've also ran Y-Cruncher using VT3s for 2 hours (i read that it hits the system pretty hard and 1 to 2 hours is enough? I don't know how true that is but i done the 2 hours) and also a hit of Prime95.

At the moment I'm running Karhu Ram Test, only a couple of hours in, but can anyone comment on my ram timings please?
I wont pretend i know anything about them, I've mostly tweaked them in-line with Buildzoids YouTube channel... I can do tighter timings at 6200MT/s (30, 36, 36, 28 from the primaries) but I'm wondering if anyone can see any further gains I can get.

I've noticed that I don't need to increase DDR voltages to achieve 6600 1:1, although its not stable in windows apart from the odd bench.

I’m just looking at everyday use settings for gaming mainly

Upgrade from 7800X3D all done - of course I can't tell any difference at all lol :)

Made sense to upgrade though after nabbing the 9800 at a good price and with used values on the 7800 so strong.
Maybe you will notice when you up your resolution or play more demanding games.
I'm gonna keep my 7800x3d and see what happens in 2027 when we will be on the last lot of CPUs.

The latest ASUS Bios update (AGESA 1.2.0.2b) fixed the latency issue with Ryzen 9800X3D.

same with mine pre-delidding. but fails when running OCCT at -40, so had to drop to -35 before fully stable. Temps were in the low 80s.

Need to retest what i can do now.. when i have the time

Exactly the same here - failed OCCT, got it to last an hour at -35, but instantly crashes doing a multiple AVX benchmark, dropping it to -30 solves that. But realisically I don't think I'll ever do anything as demanding as that, and it was fine with gaming and C23 at -40. So I'll probably stick with that as the temps were amazing.

My 9800x3d did something strange tonight as I never seen it before. So tonight I ran a cb23 test and it did 5.4ghz all core while running it. Before in the past when I ran it it dropped to like 5.1 ghz all core when under multi core testing. Does anyone know the reason for this?

Two possible reasons, you either hit the power limit (more likely, I believe its 168/170W with max power limits) or you hit the temperature limit, of 95c (less likely).

I think I set my pbo limit to motherboard last night. I just never seen it do 5.4 GHz all core when doing something like c,b23 or occt. What is your power draw normally in occt? Mine says 150w is this right?

So I am looking to tighten my ram timings and stuff. So I got a set of Gskills royal neo c28 6000mhz memory. I have no idea what kind of mem whether it a-die or m-die.

So I started by raising the frequency from 6000 to 6200 without touching any timings and voltage so essentially stock. Currently testing it via OCCT for stability and any errors. If It manages to complete it run what do I look to do next? I am not looking for anything crazy like some other members here. Just looking for a small boost.

I used the overclocking guide below. I set my CPU to -30 and +20 where it's stable at 5.7GHz.

ah my msi tomahawk doesn't have the eclk option, I tried the curve shaper settings but that seemed to make it perform worse at cinebench than using curve optimiser -30.
