AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I'm getting the 9800x3D to go with a 5090 as well. Just sold my 4090 for £1700 earlier this week. :D

Both this CPU and a 5090 are costing me around £600 combined after selling the current parts.
I bought a used 4090FE for £1000 back in January, madness that someone was willing to pay £1700 now just a couple of months before the new cards are out.

That is a little crazy. I am not going to sell mine before launch as I can't be without a GPU. Are we anticipating the same (at launch) supply/demand issues that have plagued the last two generations?

Anyway, I will be considering the 9800X3D to replace my trusty 5800X3D.

Picking one of these up on Thursday as part of a new PC build which is overdue.

Everything ready to go except the 9800X3D and 5090 but have my trusty 3080 to tide me over till it’s released though it is struggling a bit now I’ve moved over to 4K.

Think I’ve had Intel CPUs since the old Athlon 64 days but looking forward to having a top spec build again.

The only thing that concerns me about the 9800x3d is we know the 9000 non x3d chips had some issues with latency, will the 9800x3d have the same issues just mitigated by the fact its got 3d cache?

I would speculate as it's all on zen 5 the microcode updates that dropped for non x3d should carry over. But the 9800x3d is a single ccd design like the 7800x3d so the latency problem could be non existent, thus a monster is born

Going to be grabbing a MSI X870 Tomahawk and Corsairs finest DDR5 6000 CL30 to go with this. Should bring my 4090FE alive in MSFS2024. Also a worthy upgrade to the 5900X hopefully.

I'm probably going to get a 7600 no matter what as until the Nvidia 50 series is released I wont have a gfx card so can't really play anything anyway.

Hopefully by then the 9800x3d price will be slightly lower or the 9950x3d be out. Just want a cheap CPU to test my pc to make sure it works. Hopefully with 9800x3d release there should be a few secondhand bargains for the 7600... Though having said that I probably still get the 9800x3d
