I will be interested in your findings comes 19th NovemberGoing to be grabbing a MSI X870 Tomahawk and Corsairs finest DDR5 6000 CL30 to go with this. Should bring my 4090FE alive in MSFS2024. Also a worthy upgrade to the 5900X hopefully.

Isn't the 9950X3D also meant to be released this week?
Depends what you’re using it for. In the evenings I turn PC on, blast whatever game for a few hours then go to bed and wake up bleary eyed and turn my laptop on for work again. Repeat.I think it's a hard sell at 7950x3d pricing personally, it'll have to really hit hard in terms of performance to justify £500+ on an 8 core cpu.
Since I'm upgrading from a 7600x to this, will the iGPU be the same or better or is that unknown?
Same. for me I care nothing for other tasks. just gaming in the evening and maybe weekends. number of cores means nothing to me.Depends what you’re using it for. For me, I’m interested in what performance is like in games not how many cores it’s got but I take your point if you do other things on your PC.
Exactly the same as 7000 CPU's.
I must admit I was always 8 cores to match the console, but using a 7600x I have been incredibly impressed (playing at 4k). Runs so low power (65w) and boosts to 5.4ghz.Same. for me I care nothing for other tasks. just gaming in the evening and maybe weekends. number of cores means nothing to me.
I am currently using a 3700x, so core wise I won't even be getting an upgrade which feels weird lol. I just know it will smooth out the stuttering I get in some modern games. great CPU that is feeling it's age at times.I must admit I was always 8 cores to match the console, but using a 7600x I have been incredibly impressed (playing at 4k). Shout out to my ex (processor) you really were the man.
Some games do like more cores though, which may increase over the years possibly... Some cases where the 7950x3d beats the 7800x3d etc in games.Same. for me I care nothing for other tasks. just gaming in the evening and maybe weekends. number of cores means nothing to me.
Unless I'm wrong I thought its only the 9800 that will be released this week and the 9950 will be released early next year
Any news on the 9900X3D chip yet? Will that be just as effective for gaming?
Nothing new performance wise, obviously people are hoping both cores having vcache is going to bump up performance but until actually tested, who knows.
it's going to be hard for me to resist the 9800X3D in the meantime
