AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

OK, I've just run TestMem5 and it's reported an error...

I'll try the Windows memory tester, but I guess it's RMA time?

Edit - Windows memory Diagnostic ran fine…
There are two EXPO profiles in the bios “EXPO 1” and “EXPO 2”. Try the other one and test.

Sometimes EXPO can be unstable. If that doesn’t work you can remove expo and enter the exact same timings manually. I know these methods have worked for people in the past.

I would also remove any PBO/Curve Optimiser just so you can be sure it isn’t causing instability. You have quite a big offset and unless you’ve tested thoroughly it could be unstable.

OK, tl;dr - Dual channel kit will not do 36 / 36 on tRCD or tRP anymore!

I've disabled EXPO (Only have one option in the BIOS) and set the timings manually. Heres where we are...

System is stable currently @

- 30 Offset on all cores (72c fully loaded with a 115i Pro 360 AIO)
+ 100 on boost clock (5.3Ghz)
Manual RAM Timings.

Question, how/should I get 1:1 on FSB/DRAM? If so, how?

You should be able to set +200 on the boost.

If its unstable it wont be the boost clock but the undervolt.

You would -5 until you have stability.

Did you buy the sticks as a set?

I.e Two sticks of 16GB or are you mixing?

Are you running the latest bios?

Also check the mobo manual to make sure you are running the sticks in the right slots.

I know the mobo require either A1,B1 or A2,B2. (cant remember)

Yes and yes,

Kit from OcUK. It worked perfectly at the EXPO setting for a good few hours.

Code:
G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo EXPO RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C30 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit

If it was me I wouldnt accept that they dont work at expo.

I would send them back. My Corsair CL30 6000 work perfect so can recommend those.

Im tempted to pull the trigger on this chip, last upgraded before covid before prices went mad, have a ryzen 3900x
You're going to see a big improvement then ! Even when I went from a 3900X to a 5800X3D I noticed a big uptick in performance eg. as much as 50% for Flight Sim and in most other apps approx. 25%.

My jump from 3800x to 5800x was a huge gaming performance increase. Upgrading to 9800x3d this week, cant wait to finally be able to actually hit 240fps in games

@markyb

This is the stuff I got (but the 64GB version)

However I have noticed there is now a CL28 version.

Play it safe and get the CL30s. Those are built for AMD.

The CL28 look like they support both XMP and EXPO which actually could be more of a gamble.

Choice is yours.
I’m currently using the CL28 version without issue while I wait for the G.Skill CL26 to come in stock. I’m hoping I have no issues and can start tuning.

As you say the safest option is the 6000 CL30.
