AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

This was an utter joke of a launch. I was very quick and there wasn’t a whiff of stock anywhere. As bad as Covid rtx .

It’s not 2020 anymore and those excuses don’t wash. How you can’t get a CPU 30 seconds after launch in 2024 is scandalous.
m8, all UK retailers are in the same boat due to UK customs. That's not AMD or OCUK's fault is it?

Days ago people were laughing at me when I said I was worried it would be like this. "you will have hours to buy it before it goes out of stock, this isn't like the Covid days, scalpers don;t buy cpu's" hmmmm it was sold out in seconds on scan. exactly the same as the 3080 launch. just insane. I wonder how many will crop up on Ebay and Amazon reseller pages next week.

As far as I can recall, the previous gen release wasn’t bad. There was stock for quite a few hours.

I didn’t expect it to be widely available, but at least expected it to stay in stock for a few hours at least lol.

Not blaming the retailers at all, because customs etc can’t be helped. However, as mentioned by someone else, AMD really should know this and send them sooner, or find another means.

I’m all for popular launches, but this was an utter joke.

I ordered 10,000 over a month ago across three UK distributors.
Stock was shipped to UK last week and it seems every UK distributor has had their stock held by customs for past few days, since BREXIT customs is much slower than it used to be, but AMD should know this really and would have been better having a later launch date to ensure at least everybody had some day one stock.

We are expecting 500 units week across three shipments of varying sizes as such we are confident we will clear the back orders we have at the moment (240), unless of course the distributors don't get what they are expecting or some get damaged/lost in transit, it does happen unfortunately.

I am confident however, we will see several hundred next week and all those who got in early, as in before this post will have a CPU next week, but don't kill me if you don't. ;)
surprised these are not shipped in by air, I ordered a CPU from china the other day and it only took 6 days to arrive.

The thing is, I checked the US, and it was out of stock in seconds there too.

No doubt the customs are making it worse here, but they still sold out like lightning in the US too.

Quite shocking to see ***NO COMPETITOR MENTIONING*** raise their price from 450 to 470 within a matter of mins lol, OC kept firm at 450 :)

I have been refreshing the site all day every now and then, managed to get my order in at 13:57:56 so hopefully will be in the first batch :)

Although I didn't see the delay and ordered Sunday shipping as I have things going on over the next few days, so hopefully I can change shipping to as soon as it arrives in stock
Forum members get free shipping. :)

Can't decide between one of these and waiting for the 9950X3D, such a shame they aren't releasing them until later, but I'm hoping that means they'll be so good they'd eat into 9800X3D sales (like last gen where the 7800X3D was so good they had to release it later).
This is £100 more than I paid for my 7800X3D though and I'm not sure it's that much better, plus it has a higher power draw.
Maybe if I wait for the 9950X3D I can make a more informed decision and if I go for the 9800X3D it might be cheaper by then.

But the FOMO...
