AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

yeh i was surprised too. it is also only a small games sample though so might not be across the board.

I spent more in the past on the hobby. I just have other priorities these days. and a more limited budget. alas.

AMD will have it for at least the next year or two. perhaps longer. or indefinitely. Assuming there is continuing market growth it's a big pie. at least that's how it seems to me. It also seems to me that the next two years it will be pretty much the same.
9 series amd rdna 4, blackwell/5 series. i doubt they'll be jumping thru hoops to release much more until 26/27

no competition.
2 years isnt long in the scheme of things. perception of time is fleeting as I get older. It just flies by.

Black Friday Banner > Black Friday PC Parts & components > Black Friday CPUs (9)

all 9 are Intel
All 12th gen that have been reduced for awhile now to clear old stock

Clicking on the "AMD Black Friday" does display the 7800X3D at £399.99.

Clicking the "Intel Black Friday" section brings up 2 x 14th processors as well.

12900k for 269 is a great deal tbf

7800X3D was available for under £350 and a few times under £300. £450 would be the current price of the 9800X3D at today's exchange rate. So unless the exchange rate collapses, anything more than £10 to £20 is an early adopter tax.

On a straight currency conversion I get:

$479 = £369.59, with VAT = £443.50

Best case scenario I think would be £480. £500 - £550, I wouldn’t be surprised.

The $479 already includes the profit margin though. Would UK retailers really add that much on top? People in the US have the same competition as we do CPU wise.

Its minimal compared with people's gfx card obsession only £1500 for a 4090? I'll take two! Spend a few hundred quid on a cpu, *sharp intake of breath* dunno, a bit pricey that, mate

Would depend on the age and how much they are at the time of listing it.

If they do ever drop back down to £315 or £350 people may still get it new if your selling it for £300 for the full warranty etc.
Tbh I was thinking of around the £250 mark, but like you say it depends on new price at the time.
