Hi,
A work colleague is looking to get a new system (no monitor kb/m or OS required) and I've highly recommended OcUK...
I've spec'd the following machine which seems like a good system for the price.

URL: AMD System Build

The spec is:

GigaByte B450 Aorus Elite
AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.9Ghz
Team group Vulcan T-Force 16gb (2x 8gb) 3000mhz
GeForce GTX 1660 Super Storm X 6144Mb
Alpenfohn Brocken ECU Advanced Cooler
Samsung 1Tb 860 Evo SSD
KoLink KL-850M 850W PSU

At a smidge over £700 I think it's a good price. What I want to know is if there is a better option or options for the money available.

I'd entertain a self build if there were significant savings.

Main uses are Youtube, Guitar apps, 'light' gaming (no recent AAA games), light Photoshop etc.

Thanks.

Hey Rhys,

That system should be fine even for recent games, it might require lowering the graphics quality slightly on some titles though.

You would be able to get it a bit cheaper if you self built but our systems do come with a 3 year warranty as well if any issues pop up.

Looks good value. Can be tweaked and improved though.

£613.85 with a better PSU (you don't need 850W), and an 8-core CPU and better motherboard to handle it. Add a Corsair MP510 960GB which is faster than a SATA SSD for a total of £723.84 which isn't bad for the extra you're getting. And then ask for the 3000MHz DDR4 RAM to be replaced with the 3200MHz kit above, straight swap, same cost currently see below.

Regarding the GFX quality, that should be fine. It'll only be run on 2x 1080p monitors.

Are you sure about the self build price Josh? Ive priced it up on OcUK and it's coming in at around £740 for a self build, not including Thermal paste... but the 3 year warranty does appeal to my colleague and it would save me having to step if should there be any issues with components!

valuable information
Thanks very much Danny! I was looking at the M2 SSD's yesterday and was wondering about them.

Hey Rhys,

No you are right, just did the math and that is very comparable to self build price and with the 6% off at the moment it probably will save you a bit of money as well.

Cheers Josh. Choices Choices!! It's a good saving on that build plus 3 year warranty. not to be sniffed at. Will see what my work colleague wants to do.

If money is really tight then a good deal on a Ryzen 5 2600 makes sense, but the additional performance of the 3600 is worth the extra £50, if the budget is there.

Do you have a build in mind? As that CPU isn't available with the build we've been looking at in this thread.

Ask your friend if he is planning on overclocking his cpu. If he has no plans for it you can take out the cpu cooler and since ryzen chips come with a decent enough cooler and spend the extra saved money on a 3600 instead of a 2600.
