After building a cheap and powerful Intel/Nvidia setup for my nephew,
https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18705754
I wanted to do an all AMD build with the theory of keepibg the price low, and with DX12 games next year, to combien it with a xfire setup to give it a bit of a boost yet be cheaper then a 390/390X system .
Hoping to see the build i think at tje end but heres what i had in mind

A10 7870k £95
Asus Crossblade Ranger £70
HyperX 8GB red 2400hz £35
Nzxt S340 £47
SanDisk Ultra ii 480GB £60

Now question is the crossfire combo

2x PowerColor AXR9 380 4GBD5-PPDHE PCS+ £301

2x MSI R9 370 Gaming 4GB £255

2xPowerColor AXR7 370 2GBD5-PPDHE PCS+ £207

Im siding with the 380 due to the power, specially if in theory DX12 will add 500 stream cores plus the saving of the cards.
But the 370 2GB keeps it cheap and still has power .
Which do you guys think ?

Dont go crossfire. The CPU will bottleneck it as its an APU and not powerful enough for any of them really as far as i know.
Seems silly spending that much on an APU that you wont use the actual thing its good for. In my opinion, go with the i5 6400 and an AsRock Z170 board and do the Bios update and overclock that beast.
Yes its a bit more expensive, but well worth it, buying this is a waste of your money and could be better spent.

Thing is seems there's no data for seems if it'll help an xfire system in DX12.
When the new chipset comes out, would be great to see if A10 in DX12 could give a big boost to single or xfire set ups. In pure theory , 2x 380 and an A10 would yield 3500 stream processors . quite a bit and cheaper then 390x without a cpu
I wouldn't go for an skylake, waste of cash, can do a devils canyon like I did for half the price and shame performance and no bending of CPUs or delid if really needed .
Was just tempting to do a full amd build for a chanhe , and the FX just seems out dated along with it's boards.
I do see the appeal of doing an Intel build, specially if I want to see if afterwards.

Isn't the Athlon X4 750K the same CPU but without the improved GPU (that you won't be using anyway because you're buying dedicated)?

I think a single 390 would be a better choice than going X-fire. DX12 is still a while off - it's likely by the time a ton of games are using it any computer you build now is going to be pretty out of date anyway.

Although, it would be nice, I honestly dont think many developers will bother to be that specific in implementing it, especially as with Zen, chances are we will see big increases in APU performance (I imagine) and I think it would be silly buying now, banking on this happening, however good the 'promised' concept is.
Honestly dont know why I recommended Skylake to be frankly honest, if you really want AMD, get the X4 860K because that is probably the best bang for buck from AMD, and use the extra £50, along with the GPU money you would be spending to get a 980... I am a very big AMD fan, as i like to seperate from the crowd but at the moment, there isnt much better than the 980 and nothing AMD offers can really beat it.
What games are you playing/going to play??

I've bought the 2x 380 for under £300 so will start there. Don't think I'll wait for the zen apus , tempting but really was hoping to do this build for a cheap mod and sell really. Got the bug for building after the first one so wanted to do again
My rig runs on a i7 860 ;)
