AMD Shows Off FreeSync Over HDMI Concept

Nvidia should, for the better of everyone. We shouldn't be locked down to what display we must buy based on what GPU we own..

Hell they can even call it Gsync 2.0

It's nice to see this might come to TVs

Ps4 and xbox one with freesync in future?

I expect to see even more freesync choice now.

Aside from mainly asus and acer, not many of the other monitor manufacturers seem interested in gsync so who knows, maybe nvidia will have to support "adaptive sync" sooner than later.

I really wish they would for the benefit of everyone, who wants to be tied to a GPU brand all because of their monitor choice, especially when certain monitors will cost £700+... I imagine the monitor manufacturers aren't too happy with this situation either.

Perhaps they should get Freesync over DisplayPort out of beta first, I'd be quite angry to hear that they have been pumping resources into this when for several months Crossfire based customers who have invested heavily into the current version of Freesync over DP have been kept waiting for AMD to get it working.

I hope they do,im holding out on getting a new monitor. The choice of Gysnc/Freesync monitors atm isnt great, neither are prices tbh but more importantly i need to to commit to a GPU vendor as things stand

Its easier in my mind to commit to freesync all things considered, but still a quality monitor costs a fair chunk of change

What's not working at the moment?

Crossfire freesync isn't working.

Suppose we could say the same about gsync as well mmj_uk except even longer for nvidia... how many users still have stutter when using gsync with SLI? Also, DSR still doesn't work with gsync and sli iirc?

Depends on what you consider expensive :p

I don't think the freesync screens are too badly priced especially the asus one:

- ips (same panel as the acer gsync ips screen)
- 144HZ
- freesync range 35-90
- 27"
- 2560x1440

£500 for that is pretty fair imo.

I think the range is pretty good too, various brands, panel types, res. etc. to choose from.

The one and only thing which lets freesync down compared to gsync is the range it operates which is quite poor for most of them, 40 isn't "bad" but 30/35 would be a lot better, we should (hopefully..) get better freesync ranges in the future. Although tbf, this is more down to the monitor manufacturers and scalers that they use.
