Where is the best place to get these from, no where seems to sell them anymore, including OC from what i can see. Im not realy in a postion to buy a newer processor as it would involve either buying a new pc or buying a new processor, mobo and graphics card...........i currently have a AMD XP 2400+ which is getting on abit now.

auction

they are dead tech

Yeah i realise that.........but circumstances dictate thats what i get as i cant afford a new pc or even the parts to fully upgrade. What would be a decent Skt A processor to get ?

a 3200 barton.

But these go at auction for 90+ I have seen!

YOu could get a second hand A64 chip and mobo and keep your agp card for less

Hmm something to think about........cheers

depends on your motherboard if its capable of 400fsb then get an xp2500 many would oc to xp3200 just by bumping up the fsb , xp3200 cpu`s tend to run hotter for some reason as opposed to the xp2500 oced at least thats what ive found anyway, if your mobo is locked at 333 then look at getting an xp2800 or some rarer xp3000's that were at 333 but 2500's were fine if your lucky you may get an xp2500m cpu a mobile cpu that runs cooler but as has been said above ebay is your best bet unless you spot one for sale on the forums

Sell it and the motherboard and pick up a used Athlon64 and socket 939 mobo, if you keep your eyes open there are some great bargains to be had, everyone has gone dual-core crazy so the humble mono-core A64's are going for a song, look at this one for £17.61 inc vat, I hazard a guess that you could sell your current socket A CPU and cover the costs, then a decent socket 939 mobo goes for roughly £35-£45 quid used, maybe you could get some cash by also selling your existing motherboard?

You can still use your DDR memory on the socket 939 mobo but most models use PCI-Express for graphics so again you may be able to sell your existing VGA card and put that towards a new PCI Express card.

No pain, no gain, now drop and give me 50!

I got a barton 3200 that sits in a pc unused but i will keep it as you never know what they going to be worth at some point.

Sell the gear and get a cheap A64. Because there's still loads of single-core A64s on shelves but AXPs are getting rare, they fetch a premium price so you can probably actually make money out of it.

I didnt think they were worth so much, i just gave away my old xp3000+ barton to a work mate complete with a motherboard (Abit M7NCD) and a gig of pc3200 ram. I now think i should have put it on the bay.
