AMD Socket Question

we all know its in the works thanks to leaks etc. And i don't want to fall into the trap i did last time (yay 939, the prices are dropping buy processor OMG they released AM2 already? great, now i can never upgrade until a full system change)

Anyway, my PC is getting older now thanks to being stuck with damn 939 and its 0 support... And i'm considering upgrading (RAM and graphics make no difference, the bottleneck on my system is the processor)

BUT i don't want to upgrade to have the same situation arise again, so i was wondering if anyones heard anything on the rumour mill about when the next AMD socket is to be released.

---edit----

I am an AMD fanboy its true, every Intel system i've owned the processor has blown (no joke i didnt even overclock) hence why i'm focusing on AMD.

----edit----

so far all i've found is sometime in 2008, so even more specific as an estimate of which quater would be appreciated,

although they'd be compatible, from what i've read the AM3 won't be running at 100% capability. But after looking around a bit i have found that AMD is making the new processors backwards compatible on sockets, (thank god they finally do SOMETHING right)

I'm actually looking forward to my next upgrade now. I'll probably be on here with my budget asking for some build advice :P
