amd storeMI left partition

okay amd store mi was semi installed and then deleted and now I cant optimise my C drive and I know that I have to delete a partition is this right and which one, I just want it back to normal for the time being ?

Right click on Windows (C) and EXTEND Partition
Will give you extra 11.92 GB in your C drive

You could leave it as overprovisioning but most/all SSDs keep some space for that already.

If it is for OP then i don't see where AMD has put anything unless it's the boot sector/s

If i am understanding you right
D is a hdd and C is the SSD,you used stormi to `enhance/speedup` the D drive?
If so i `guess`the unallocated is what stormi grabbed to use as a `buffer` for the D drive

Unless the ssd is asamsung and you used magician rapid mode?

okay so extended partition but the same result when trying to optimise, optimisation not available, screenshot of drives, now I asked my son who tried to install this and he doesn't know if it ws installed on the 'C' ssd or 'D' hdd

You are not supposed to defrag/optimise a ssd
i wonder if that is why it is failing

oops always had it on auto for years and I was able to manually defrag it which I always did after installing anything

AFAIK windows now knows not to automatically defrag an SSD, but you can probably still do it manually...

ok solved deleted the AMD storeMI storage driver and rebooted and now have the option to optimise my 'C' ssd again

Why bother? There's no appreciable seek time on SSDs, as there's nothing moving. You're wearing your SSD out for no reason (unless Windows just says it's doing it to please people who defrag SSDs

)

only worried about it because it was always there before, and after reading up that windows will defrag a hdd but trim a ssd I just wanted to get to the bottom of why the option wasn't there anymore
