Hi guys Im on the edge of building a new system, I'm going to with 2 x nvidia 1080ti graphics cards, a corsair 750d case and also shall watercool it, but I'm very undecided which processor to with the i9 7920x or the amd ryzen threadripper 1950x..... Obviously I can't choose the motherboard until I decide on the processor..... I've watched loads of videos on the differences but I'm interested in what people on here actually think about the choice I do do a lot of video editing and photography etc but also game a lot too....... Thoughts? Thanks in advance

If you game at 4K I'd say they'd be both about equal with some games favouring one or the other, for heavy multi threaded tasks Threadripper will spank the Intel chip.

If you are using Adobe products ( PS, AE, AP ) they are pretty much even so I would also suggest Threadripper for its extra cores for other applications.

Threadripper - great performance and a better platform (nvme raid, support for more memory, ECC memory to name but a few).

If you search "After Effects CC 2017.2 CPU Comparison" in google first link has lots of 3D, Image, Video software tests on Skylake and TR including single to quad 1080TIs.

Sorry cant post link as they also sell systems.

1950X. More cores, OC to 4-4.1Ghz with good proper watercooling (full block/monoblock). Better platform to boot, your 1080tis wont compete for PCI-E lanes even if you plug 4 NVME drives on the PCI-e slots :P
Make sure you buy a board that clearly supports 3600Mhz ram (I believe thats the Asrock). Plug it on, and enjoy :)
