all of my pc career has been based on amd builds with ati graphics which has atleast in the last 4 years not been amazing if im honest, games just don't seem to perform on maximum settings smoothly enough with top hardware as opposed to Intel.

After reading reviews and benchmarks it seems the i5 2500k seems a good route to go for gaming however, i have zero knowledge on intel so what im looking for is:

a) good motherboard
b) good processor i5 2500k?

setup which will perform well together, as im coming from a top end system AMD wise i would like it to be in the same region hardware wise obviously i know prices on intel is more expensive but this isnt an issue at this time.

the point of the system is for gaming - web browsing and movies.

my current system is:

Crosshair V Forumla - AMD 1100t - 1333mhz 8gb ram - 850w hx - ATI 6870 - 2tb hard drive x 2.

of which will be put on the intel motherboard with the processor. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

thanks for the quick replys, well the game i play is World of Warcraft mostly and as everyone knows the game engine is very outdated but people are seing better results on a 2500k, as for graphics cards im running crossfire 6870 but have decided to upgrade to a single higher performer.

people have been saying the 1100t is definately not for gaming and struggles with most high demanding cpu games ?

as previously said the game i do intend to play more than others is world of warcraft and the fps results from 1100t / 2500k are on that site and show there is a huge difference , mmorpg obviously dont need huge amounts of fps but being capped at 60 due to vsync is a must when in demanding areas which i feel the 1100t is struggling to do unless crossfire 6870 is not enough?.

however i do intend to upgrade the graphics to a single 6970 and upgrade my ram from 1333mhz to 1600mhz.

at the moment the game is playable but turning around and moving in most areas is "choppy" feels as if the graphics card is letting it down but as i researched more and more it led me to believe the processor is the bottleneck in this specific game.

yeah my main focus with the machine would be World of Warcraft, the 1100t at the minute is stock with a corsair a50 cooler so it looks like an overclock may fix the issue for now and see what the performance increase is if any, thanks a lot for the responses they were helpful.
