AMD is about to release a new graphics card from Radeon RX 470 series. As you will learn from this posts, there is not enough concrete information to make any final judgments. One thing is clear though, something is coming, and it’s close.

AMD Radeon RX 470D with 1792 Stream Processors

First of all Radeon RX 470D is not an official name. The RX 470D first appeared at XFX website, which already hosts new model based on RX 470D. Thanks to this website we have a very rough idea of what to expect from this model.

XFX website has the following quote:

Brand new Polaris graphics Radeon RX470D non-public version, take you into the VR new horizons!

Non-public version?

Non Public, could be "unofficial" or XFX-exclusive version of chip.?

In the past I seem to remember some of the die-harvested versions of chips having certain manufacturer exclusivity e.g. X800GTO2 ?

If it does end up being released, then it all it really means is that yield has been relatively poor on the new process, and there are more (partially) defective dies than they would have likely expected (enough now that they can supply enough quantity for a run of cards)

Until it actually happens though, just another rumour :)

You get a cut down chip with disabled parts for a certain price point a lot as they normal sell more than the full chip so if they don't have enough salvageable chips they will disable parts of a chip to sell them at that price point.

Oh yeah, but a second tier of gimp is quite rare.

Just a quick question, where is the uproar that it is called a rx470, seeing as it has less stream cores than the other 470. ;)

It's called the RX 470D, not the RX 470. No different from the 'Ti' moniker, which is what the 6GB 1060 should have had to properly differentiate it.

Seems it's for China only anyway.

Haha Bru, I was reading through this expecting this to be said but it is all good fun :D

As mentioned it's like having a 560 and 560ti or more appropriately a 260 and 260x except it's a D, Maybe the X is for when it's faster and the D for when it's not :D

It's not even a mainstream card though so it's not like it's going to turn up in the shops acting like it can match it's big brother.

Really they should have called it a 460x or a 465

The bus powered R7 360 is available in the UK though??

HIS R7 360 GREEN iCooler 2GB

Kuroutoshikou R7 360E

http://www.kuroutoshikou.com/product/graphics_bord/amd/rd-r7-360e-e2gb-jp/

After searched R7 360E product article numbers and googled it confirmed R7 360E was not been available in UK market through UK retailers or UK sellers. I found HIS R7 360 GREEN iCooler 2GB is only available in Germany and Italy but it can be imported to UK, I found Germany and Italy sellers and the price was crazy price gouging. 1 Italy seller asked for £130 and 2 Germany sellers asked for £260 and £444 LOL so much more than cheapest GTX 1070 for a pathetic bus power R7 360E that is slower than stock R7 360 and slower than GTX 750 Ti. :o

A GTX 1050 would be much better buy cost less than R7 360E. :p

Emm,yes it is - you can actually buy a bus powered R7 360 right now in the UK for well under £100 and is much cheaper than any GTX750TI. One of them is the XFX Radeon R7 360 Low Power Edition. Its been available for months.

Plus here is a review of the HIS card:

http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/a...-360-GREEN-iCooler-OC-2GB-Video-Card-Review/7

It trades blows with a GTX750 and apparently consumes about the same power. Considering its basically using a cut down version of an old GPU,ie,Bonaire XT from 2013 with newer firmware I was actually surprised they managed to get that far, although it should really have been out last year to have any real impact IMHO.

Edit!!

Its listed on the XFX website as R7-360P-2NF5:

+1, You could buy a bus powered xfx r7 360 ***elsewhere*** . I know I nearly bought it over my 6 pin Msi r7 360. They were available around the same time that the Gtx 950 Bus powered version came out.

Don't hint at competitors - Armageus

Hmmm very strange, that was not the same website I was looked at.

http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/Products/amd-radeon-r7-300-series#360

Surprised I never seen it before and wondered why it was not in Techpowerup GPU database and OCUK never stocked it months ago and it was very odd there was no reviews at many websites like techpowerup, guru3d, hardocp etc and nobody talked about it in forums.

I googled part number and found XFX launched it on 6 May 2016, GTX 1080 was launched on 27 May 2016.

It was really very shame that XFX 360 Low Power Edition was not wide available but it were available in very limited quantity with very few retailers and GTX 750 Ti was available everywhere in every stores and also far too late to enter market now that RX 460 is now available everywhere that AMD fans knew about it and can buy at almost same price.
