The AMD Trinity FM2 platform is in short pretty damn amazing. AMD clearly now own the entry-mainstream level of processors with onboard Graphics. In our own testing of the A10-5800k we have seen overclocks ranging between 4.6-4.8GHz on air-cooling, managed to overclock the GPU upto 1150MHz and using 2400MHz memory gives a serious boost to the onboard graphics performance.

The results in short is an APU that can actually play the latest titles at acceptable frame rates with a recommended resolution of 1680x1050 and maximum of 1920x1080. Another serious advantage of the new processors is they support eye-infinity out of the box, so you can now easily run three monitors from the onboard setup. Adding in a discreet HD 6670 nearly doubles performance in certain titles.

Even more so this new CPU runs so cool with a decent air cooler you can run more or less in silence even with a great overclock.

The AMD A10-5800K Black Edition in some ways is all the CPU you will ever need. With 4 cores and a stock speed of 3.80GHz, which automatically turbo's upto 4.20GHz when required, this CPU can handle anything you throw at it. Even more impressive is the overclocking ability of these processors with some reaching near 5GHz on air cooling.

The main and best feature of the A10-5800k is the onboard IGP, the HD 7660D which is equivalent in gaming performance to a HD 6670 and can actually play any game including the latest titles with moderate quality settings. In our own testing Borderlands 2 at 1680x1050 with all details on maximum was more than playable, with smooth frame rates. However it is very important with the FM2 platform to use high speed memory as the onboard IGP gets a serious performance boost with faster memory upto 2400MHz.

For those who require more graphics performance, adding a HD 6670 to the mix will enable Hybrid Crossfire giving upto approx 80% additional performance in modern gaming titles, making this new platform viable for entry level gaming machines that can play the latest gaming titles.

As for the rest, the manufacturers decided to fall asleep and most are releasing later this week and so on over the course of the next 3 weeks.

Looking over our main competitors it would seem that we are the only company with actual physical stock for launch. Everyone else has boards listed on "pre-order" with stock coming in "X" amount of days.

AMD have not done a very good launch this time around which is a shame.

A little frustrating really as this is the first platform with on board GPUS that can actually perform a demanding 3D task such as gaming at reasonable/max settings at resolutions up to 1080p

Kingston 1866MHz clocked at 2133MHz, any of the GeIL Legara worked fine too.

Board was the F2A85X-UP4.

A55 looks to be locked down a little feature wise, no USB 3.0 ect but it still clocks with a K chip.

I would look at the A6-5400K as the around 5% to 10% slower than an A8-3850. So check the benchmarks of the A8-3850!

TBH,I would probably get the A10-5800K or A10-5700.
