AMD trolls Nvidia at Nvidia Event

So they showed two AMD optimised games at resolutions no one plays at with the 290x slightly ahead :rolleyes::p

My farts are more relevant than this, although I do quite like the drama. I can imagine Nvidia are pretty ****ed off right now

Slightly ahead lol. I would not call 17% ahead slightly ahead, that's actually quit a big lead. There does seem to be different results on other sites showing less gains and some that show the same.

Considering the AMD card is clocked 100MHZ on the core and higher on the memory "Based on leaked specs" its not that surprising to see an FPS difference although small, If they clocked the 780 to match the AMD card I imagine it would overtake it.
Heres another graph from guru3D's visit in montreal -

We don't know if the card was running full clocks as it was running in quiet mode which may limit the clocks. Linus reckons there is also a performance mode.

A thought just occurred to me, it's rumored that in day 2 (today) Nvidia will unveil a new card or cards, if that was to include a direct replacement for the GTX780 say like a GTX780ti or GTX785 which Nvidia then demonstrated running Bioshock/Tomb Raider and matching R290X then this little PR stunt could go down in history as one of the all time greatest own goals lol.

I know the odds are a million to one but would be hilarious :P

One thing I am willing to bet money on....Nvidia will be countering these dirty tricks. I expect something in the dev conference today in Montreal :D

Me too...to be honest even if you discount the fact they might come out with a new GPU today, AMDs little stunt was so vague it was practically pointless. No Crossfire, nothing other than 4K?

Honestly wouldn't of bothered. If the 290X is that much of a market leader just lift the NDA already. Maybe it's just me, but it's all very fishtastic.

So much for the two individuals over the CPU forum keep banging of how the Piledriver are much better than they really are and owning i5 and giving out misinformation to people seeking advice :p

But we are not talking about an I5 here are we now?? You would have to be somewhat insane to suggest that an I7 is worse overall to Piledriver.

AMD is clearly toying with nVidia(and as a side result the rest of us) pooking them to get an answer like a new GFX that are 5-10% faster than their current 780 just to enable Performance mode or whatever and match that to. It looks like they want for nvidia to bleed some money. The darn cat suddenly got claws.

Aye very tit for tat. I keep saying it but I'll be very surprised if Nvidia do release a fully unlocked GK110 as their counter. Hoping for something more than that this afternoon.

I am sure they can pay off some reviewer to skewer the results or better still, invite people up to their room and tell them to sit and don't touch while I show you this test we did on a 290X and a 780.... I see the results yesterday and thought 'good stuff AMD' but now I have had time to think about it, the more I don't trust them. We all know reviewers can be biased and maybe even sorted out with the odd brown envelope but an AMD rep is to be trusted in a bedroom across the street from Nvidia's dev conference....

Yer ok :D

"champagne? Help yourself to the buffet." Can just imagine some hunch backed minion with a evil grin on his face coaxing people through the door lol :D.

First thing I would have said would have been "no Titan"? But that's just how I see it personally. I know it's not direct competition but this card is coming out 6 or 7 months later. I want to know how it compares.

I'd like to just say, I put this here more for the drama. When it comes to the numbers I'm not interested as much till they have 10 games preferred by one and then the other.

Agreed 4k playing isn't going to be there for a while, also I love 120hz too much to make the jump to 4k.
