AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL-60 2 GHz

Parents have an Acer Turion X2 1.6ghz and it flies! You would be very happy with it! I run a Opteron 165 clocked to 2.8ghz and although that's faster the laptop does keep up very well considering! ;)

However, core2duo laptops will probably perform better and if you can find one with a similar spec for similar money that might be the better choice. But that really doesn't mean you wouldn't be very happy with the Turion! I'm perfectly happy with my dual core AMD rig and won't swap to conroe (or it's equivelent) until absolutely necessary! :)

Ive got a turion tl50 laptop with a 1.6 ghz processor x2 and it is quite quick for office/internet based apps...is quicker than my main pc in sig now that has a nasty virus that has slowed it down somewhat.

Turion X2s are decent enough processors, however they obviously don't keep up with core 2 duo's but for office/internet stuff they're superb and you would probably be quite impressed - for a 1.6gig amd processor it flies and this has 256k of l2 cache and the tl60 2ghz will have double so it should definitely be more than enough for internet/office.

Im posting using a lappy with an AMD Turion 64 x2 1.6ghz and browsing / office apps is no real difference from my main rig :)

I can also play wow with it, but its a big laggeh :( Other than that its great.
