AMD Turion X2 vs. Core 2 Duo laptop cpus

Hi,

G/f wants new laptop for general office work (word, excel), music, light gaming (sims) and Internet browsing.

Which cpu is better? I know Core 2 Duo is better for desktops use but not sure about notebooks.

Would a TL60 (2.0GHz) perform quicker than a Core 2 at 1.6GHz or does the Core 2's architecture perform better, so making the speed difference negligible?

thanks for the replys and sorry for my slow response, too much uni. work to do.

Opted for the Turion TL-58 in the end, mainly because of being able to get better battery in the price range and for her needs hopefully won't be much noticeable difference between the 2.

Will let you know if there are any problems.

@ spicypixel, was cheap Dell Vostro 1000 as g/f didn't really anything more powerful plus was in budget.
