Hello everyone,

I’m pretty sure most of you are aware the Battlefield 4 patch has been launched today; and I just wanted to take a moment to provide you an update on said subject. As you may know this new patch is automatically installed on systems that already have Battlefield 4 installed. That being said, in order to take advantage of the Mantle API and experience the performance increase, you will need to meet the following prerequisites:

1. Have a GCN (Graphics Core Next) based GPU in your system
2. Install the latest Battlefield 4 patch from Origin (installed automatically)
3. Install the latest graphics driver, the AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta (coming soon)

With the above in place, you’ll be ready and Mantle will be enabled

Also, the upcoming AMD Catalyst 14.1 Beta driver will support all desktop Graphic Core Next (GCN) products, though we are working with EA to further optimize performance on 280X, 270X, HD-7000 and HD-8000 series GPUs. In addition, we’re giving the press time to exclusively test the beta driver while we implement the finishing touches on all the features you can expect from the Catalyst 14.1 Beta driver.

Please keep in mind that 14.1 is a beta driver and your feedback is very important to us; once it’s launched, you may report any bugs or issues by using our official reporting form: www.amd.com/betareport

I will make sure to keep you up to date, and provide you the link to the driver as soon as it’s available (which is more likely going to be here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Thank you very much for your patience

Yeah, I looked at some of the posts and thought to start this one just to play it safe. I'm hoping the community here will find it helpful. :)

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to provide you a quick update:

The driver won't be released today. Our Driver team is putting the final touches on the Catalyst 14.1 Beta driver, but I will make sure to keep you informed on this front as much as possible. I appreciate your patience, means a lot to me :-)

On what are you basing this?

Incidentally, I bought my 7950 for the out-of-the-box performance, so if and when mantle launches, if it helps I shall consider it a nice bonus. The delayed launch is rather annoying - particularly the fact that it's from AMD's side when I thought we were waiting for BF4 to get it together with their launch issues. Perhas it's just a bit of a collaborative effort. I just don't see why people are getting worked up about it.

One question I wonder about - is Mantle going to be a 'standard' thing (so once you've got working drivers work it should work with all Mantle games) or are we looking at something a bit more like the old CrossfireX profiles, where game-specific bits got released individually by AMD to allow compatibility?

Hello Mockingbird (everyone),

The Mantle API is a low-level programming language that enables developers to exploit the capabilities of today's GPUs, to improve graphics performance. It's designed to be applicable to a range of GPU architectures. It's an agnostic API. Our intention for Mantle is to eventually become an industry standard applicable to multiple graphics architectures and platforms.

Please, use the our official reporting form (www.amd.com/betareport). It's the best way to provide your feedback to our Beta team.

PS. I'm going to install the beta driver in a little while (need to grab some dinner now - I'm in the US - California). I've been playing BF4 for a couple of weeks now, I'm hooked, and looking forward to see how it works on my rig too :-)
