Looking to move from an old intel system (e6400,680i,ddr2) to an amd machine. I have a nice 20''Samsung monitor and a 4850 with an Accelero S aswell as vista premium waiting to be used.

spec so far

Anything i might be able to cut afew £ off?. Will be gaming mostly, and wanting to keep price/quality as best as possible.

can't see the point in going ddr3, i'd go with an am2+ mobo and ddr2 memory.

have you tried clocking your e6400 ?

buliding a similar machine and I got the same AM3 Board and DDR3 (2 x 2GB). The reason for DDR3 for me is because of the new socket AM3 board. if you want DDR2 than you got to get a AM2+ board, but AM2+ is going to get replace with AM3 so for the sack for "future resistant" ( not future proof as that is impossible ) I think its fair to pay abit more for the DDR3 ram eventho there wouldn't be much increase in performance compare to DDR2
