If the mobo can run it i would. most AM2+ cpus should work in AM2 mobos but that is not always the case as it maybe down to the bios with it either not working at all or it does work but will not display the name of the CPU= Unknown which would not really bother me as long as everything else works as it should.
Google that cpu with your mobo & see if anyone else is running that combination.

All PH II cpus acan work in AM2 as long as the mobo supports it through a bios update.

Both AM2+ and AM3 cpus are backwards compatible

Best bet then Thorpy would to try and get a AMD 6000X2 from MM or somewhere similar. Some competitors were selling them for £60 a few weeks ago :) Would give you a boost anyway.

Nah it's either Quad Core or nothing, need it for intense video editing!

Surely if my mobo is AM2 and i get a Phenom I that needs AM2 sall good?

Thanks for the advice though!

What about something like this. You could use either providing ATX fits in your case.

So for an ATX build:- £249.53
MATX build:- £234.58

Yea my Mobo supports ATX!

Pricey :( Might have to hold off on buying this for a while.

Is it worth going Intel, since im buying a new mobo n all?

Ah right thanks, so i guess its a case of bang for buck?
