Hey

So ive seen someone selling a 78003dx for a very good price. Its in a sealed box but doesnt come with any sort of receipt.

Do AMD go off serial numbers like intel do?

Thinking of grabbing it and then saving it until i can get a board and ram for it.

Thanks

Odd. Can you elaborate more on “a very good price”?
For something as expensive I would be cautious trying to save few quid. If the saving is too good, sometimes is a trap. But you may be lucky and is a genuine good opportunity.

Its being sold for £200. On the pictures it looks to be sealed. I would only pick it up from the persons house so i know where to go back to if it turns out to be fake.

But if it is real, im hoping there is a warranty without a receipt like there is with intel CPUs. They just use the serial, or they did when i had a problem a few years back

Never had to do it myself but the RMA process on the AMD website says that you need to upload proof of purchase.

Yeah I RMA'ed a 3600X and they required an invoice. (rainforest) I guess it is to check resellers. They then lost my RMA'ed chip but once found, replaced it within 24 hours from the Netherlands.

I'm saying that any sensible person would check the serial number. AMD aren't stupid.

EDIT: I just did a quick search and yes, AMD ask for the serial number. Here's the link

Id already seen that. But with intel, they same the same but dont actually aak for it, or didnt when ive had to RMA

But anyway, as mentioned above, im not buying it.
