I'm getting fed up of seeing a message telling my AMD wattman reset defaults due to unexpected amd failure.

ive had no system failure and it resets ever day or 2. is there anything that can be done about this

its not a game profile i want i just the fan off function turning off.
im not even overclocking i just dont like my gpu to sit at 55c all day when it can sit at 30c

Ok man I have no answer to that lol. Although you can try using the Afterburner fan profile setup and see if that works for you.

I tried after burner, but if won’t control the fan unless you turn off fan stop in wattman first lol

and then AB as a minimum of 40% on the fan but wattman dose 30%

Why though. If anything its extending your GPU's life doing this because the fans aren't running all the time. Fans fail much more often than anything else on a GPU.

Does your card have a different bios where there is no fan stop?
I'm also getting that message all the time too.

Have you tried turning off fastboot?

If that doesn't work try disabling any over/underclock and run at stock settings to test.

If that try removing (not just disabling) and other overclocking software such as Afterburner.

Are you using other programs at the same time? They can interfere with the driver controls, I think.
None at all.

It's Wattman, it's generally a buggy piece of ****. Had my own issues with it since it 'launched'.
There should be an option to not install it, amd know it’s crap

That’s what a 5 year warranty is for, and heat is the number killer if hardware. If you gpu sits at 50c for 12hr a day it’s not good compared to 30c

Sadly not.

Tbf I haven’t no. I will save my bios and reset then test for a few days.

Welcome to AMD GPU drivers.
Only fix in my experience is going with an Nvidia GPU.
I mean you could move to another Radeon but the likely hood of this replicating is big.

Everyone will comment all kinds of crazy changes to your system avoiding the real issue, the AMD drivers being craptastic.

the drivers are fine, all games work fine, FPS are fine. No crash’s or anything.

out of interest how easy is it to disable fan off on your gpu. On a 1060 6g I had years ago your couldn’t. The gpu wiild hit 55c and the fan would kick in at 60% scream like your mum and then go off… that was a much better solution

I had to bios mod the card

You might be able to use more power tools to change the fan profile permanently. Someone else probably knows here.

i have had a google to see if it can be bios modded, because i did mod my 5600xt(same problem different vender) but i just cant find anything and i dont want to just poke about and hope for the best

Same, all fine here. When people have problems it's usually PEBCAK ;)
lol, dose sound about right TBF

Is it the dust doing it? They must be out to get you! Let AMD know they need to dust proof their drivers which don't exist physically.

You are right about PEBCAK.

I also hope you hope whilst hoping some more, that fixes everything, just like Jesus.

AMD Wattman is not the driver. its a bolt on and it poo but the driver works fine

the "hope for the best" was about not wanting to mod a bios not knoing what "I" was doing or is that also the fault of AMD, i see you missed the part where i have to mod an GTX BIOS to fix the same problem or did that not fit the point you was making.

ALSO the GTX was worse as the fan kicked in at 60% not 30% like the AMD

What do we call it then since it is software that interacts directly with the driver...

Anyway, besides the point, it won't fix, AMD issues rarely do from experience, you either have them or don't.
