AMD, whats the difference between the black edition and...well the normal edition?

BEn_2600+ is right, it is multiplier unlocked so you can go up as well as down the scale which is helpful for overclocking
*cough* in theory *cough*

Sorry :D

What I mean to say is, Phenom doesn't overclock very far anyway, for now :p

Yes, if you can definately wait for one of the chips ending in '50', which are the new revision. They're due soon. Also, a price reduction on the phenom range is immenant. So def worth holding on a bit before buying.

Phenom is "at best" identical clock for clock against Conroe/Kentsfield. That means that in certain benchmarks a 2.4GHz Phenom can match the Q6600.

However in most it's beaten, and in some beaten quite soundly.

As a result it really can't compete with Wolfdale/Yorkfield at all.

It does have a really good price for what it is though. The B2 CPUs were a bit naff but at least the B3s are remotely competitive.

good if someone already had an am2 board though i suppose so amd might convince someone to buy them :P
