10.45am - AMD Sempron, Athlon 64 and Athlon 64 X2 CPUs have all been discounted with large drops across the whole range.

is it worth hanging on for the price to drop ?

I get paid on thursday and am sorely tempted by this. I WILL buy on if they overclock well. The best google could find was this. Which begs the question. What the hell is E6 stepping?

All the dual cores, the newer Venices and San Diegos are E6 iirc, its just the a revision to the core.

I've read a few different opinions now on other forums as to whether or not they overclock well. Only way to find out is to buy one. Expect some results posted on Friday if nobody else has by then.

roll on friday
:)

I'll be ordering to get one for next Friday, so I can also give some results, for my new machine :) Can't wait to build it. I'll be on watercooling too, so can push it well.

So as promised overclocking results.
I'm using a scythe ninja with the fan.
Currently got it at 2.5Ghz with voltage set to 3.3% above default. Coped fine with half an hour of prime 95 which is hardly comprehensive but it looks good so far. I'm going to test a bit more before overclocking farther but so far so good.

Not used the hot fix yet but the AMD driver is installed. Windows does feel fasater. I'm going to throw both cores at encoding a 350 meg AVI file and i'll get back as soon as I'm done. From what I remember my overclocked venice took 30 to 40 mins for this size file.

EDIT: Toledo

Seriously Humax you need to get one of these. You won't be disappointed.

First file encoded in just under 15mins. The difference in encoding is incredible. If the system is still stable after encoding the other three files and burning to DVD I will overclock somemore as this is a good test of stability.

EDIT: Full load both cores. 35 degrees case and 42 degrees CPU according to MBM5.
