I am thinking of upgrading my AMD 64 3200+ to one of the X2s mentioned in the title, and I was wondering which one I should go for?

My motherboard isn't the best overclocker... so I am uncertain if I will get the performance difference...

as has been said before the extra 1meg of cache equates to 100-200mhz clock speed, cpu speed can be tinkered with, you can't gain cache! for me this is a no brainer get the 4400!

I was trying to make the same decision a couple weeks back and I went with *** 4600+. Here's why: I had a 3000+ clocked to 2.4Ghz on a Dual Sata 2 (a mobo with very limited options for BIOS voltage increases). If I went with the 4400+ and I got less than 2.4ghz out of it I would be disappointed.

By getting the 4600+ I knew that I would get at least 2.4Ghz, and in the end I got 2.6Ghz which gave me a nice speed bump in games.

Plus I read that many games dont make use of the extra cache.

So if you have a good OCn mobo go for the 4400+, but if not I'd recommend the 4600+.

I'm stable at 3.2ghz on my 4400 but temps are too high for me and I have ot give it 1.68 vcore...I'll try again once I get a better waterblock and pump..but til then I'm running 3.03ghz daily. Not too shabby.

I had the same dilemma a few months back and weighed up all the pros and cons, cant remember exactly why but i plumped for the 4600 in the end and have been very very happy with it indeed.
