I have upped my chip to 240 times 11 with HTT at 800(4*)
The only way to get it stable is to put 1.4V through the chip.
The temps according to ASUS Probe 2 are 31 idle and 45 at full load with both cores flatout. My memory is G Skill PC4000 HZ so I think its not holding it back. I am assuming that you guys tighten the timings from the supplied on memory?
I guess I could try 10 times multiplier but I think Im happy with this.
What have others achieved on an x2 4400? I dont see an overclocking thread for this processor?
Phil

Well if your overclocking your RAM aswell, you should loosen the timings otherwise use the divider.

as above, go for more volts. i'd probably stop at around 1.55ish or when it gets to hot, but at those temps you've got nowt to worry about for a while

On dual core and air, temps will shoot through the roof so keep an eye on temps and look to keep them under 60C.

Hi Jokester
Its cranked up to 1.4 in the Bios which is the max it will go.
I have another setting for Vcore overvoltage which is set to auto, however disabling this still only gives 1.4. I suspect if i set this to overvolt + 100 or 200 mv this will be on top of the manual setting? I am a little reluctant to overdo this as I dont want to fry the chip.
System has passed 3D mark and 2 super Pi running at same time on 2.65 Ghz
But failed Prime running on both cores quite quickly.
Temps are at 42 Deg using probe 2 (not sure how accurate this is)
May back off a few Hz and settle for this ;)
Phil

Yeah if you enable the +100mV you'll get 1.5V, but what to do is drop the other one to 1.3V to make a total of 1.4V again. Then increase it one notch and test it for stability as you increase the clock speed. Just keeping an eye on temps.

X2 4400 @ 2640MHz (240x11 with a 10/9 divider) at 1.45Vcore.
CPU 45degC
PWMIC 57degC
Chipset 49degC

I have 4x512MB sticks of ram so I run at 2T at 2.91Vdimm

edit: corrected the Vcore.

What sort of cooling are you using NickK as that must get toasty if it's air?

Jokester

That's as it is atm (it runs two CP.net models all the time).

It's cooled by an XP-90C with a Papst 90mm fan.. it's pretty quiet but you're right it's a little toasty.

Hi guys,
The memory part confuses me a little.
It is running at 166 MHz so is being multiplied by 14 to match the speed of the CPU. Should I set to 200 so its 1:1 I asume the divider is set in BIOS?
Phil

Yeah if you set it to 200MHz it'll run at 1:1 with the FSB. If it's currently set to 166MHz then it's probably only running at about 200MHz at the moment (166/200 x 240 roughly).

Hi Jokester,
I think CPUZ is confusing me as it reports the memory as running at the same speed as the CPU, the only difference is the multiplier is higher

It's ages since I overclocked this machine. I had to get a pen and paper out to work out where all the buses and which settings altered what bus lol.

Although my chip can run at 240x11, my memory will not run at a 1/1 (1:1) speed of 240MHz. So I use the 10/9 divider on my DFI motherboard to set the memory speed to 240*9/10 = 216MHz.
Oddly enough, the CPU-Z I have thinks it's running CPU/13 which gives 203.1MHz memory speed.. *shrug*

Well I am now at 1.475V running Prime on both cores at 240 X 11. Have also set the memory to 200 so its running at 240 also.
Temps with both cores flatout is 45.
