AMD X2 4800+ Screen Freeze / Unfreeze

Guys ...

I'm going to post this in the Mobo section, the CPU section and the OS Section as i'm not sure what is causing the problem.

My system will randomly freeze for a few seconds upto abour 30 seconds in either games or just in windows. It always recovers and carries on as if nothing has happened. At the time there is no disk activity ... or anything?

System has all the latest Nvidia drivers and patches.
AMD Processor Drivers
Dual Core Optimiser
MS Dual Core Hotfix Patch

The Bios is a Standard 2004 Bios as shipped from DFI - I did try a bios update, but it didn't take and i had to reset (I did this after the problems occured) On a separate note ... which is the best bios update to use .. and the best way to install it?

Both CPU's are showing in Task Manager

Bios was my thought also - as the X2 wasn't even around in 2004 - I tried using the 'NTune' bios update and it just caused the system to die completely .. had to reset and hope it came back .. thankfully it did. I assume that 'winflash' would be the most reliable method of updating?

I'm no PC novice and have never had trouble in the past updating bios ... however that problem has un-nerved me somewhat .. i'm assuming i will always be able to re-set it back to the original factory bios ?
