Hey all,

Just switched mobo and got a slight issue.

Went in to overclock my new 5000+ BE and there is no Freq/Volt section in the bios nor any option in which i can see for the multiplier.

My old mobo had these options but have had to swap due to incompatibility with the 8800GT and the system not being able to boot.

The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2.

Is anyone able to help?

Is this something i am able to change on a software level?

Also what software is floating around nowadays for Windows Vista x64 to monitor the CPU Freq/Volts.

Thanks

Do you not have a "MIT" option in the BIOS? Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker.

Hmm, looked at the spec on their site and it says:

System voltage detection
CPU / System temperature detection
CPU / System fan speed detection
CPU / System warning temperature
CPU fan failure warning
Supports CPU Smart Fan function(Note 2)

and then....

Supports EasyTune (only supports Hardware Monitor function)(Note 3)

So maybe it can only monitor and not change, since it doesnt mention the MIT at all on GB site.

edit: you can still use CPUZ in Vista. :)

Cool i'l give CPU-Z a wirl then.

In regards to the BIOS Volt/Freq this basically mean i'm unable to overclock the chip via the multiplier

If your board doesn't allow give you the option to change the multiplier then your pretty stuck in that respect. Might be worth looking into a BIOS update, if that doesn't work you will need to use a different board if you want to OC using the unlocked multipliers.

You usually need to hit Ctrl and F1 together to unlock the overclocking menu in Gigabytes.

That is just to change the Memory timings iirc (have a DS3 at home), Intel of course, not AMD. All of the other settings for CPU frequency are readily available.

You really need to pick up a second hand AM2 board with overclocking functions otherwise that Black Edition is wasted.

Just selling on of these motherbaords today mate. Was my motherboard in my AM2 rig till last week :)

Ctrl+F1 in bios to get the "advance" options. but you cant do much. ajust FSB and thats about it ! :( really is a budget htpc / web browsing machine mobo im afraid
