AMD X2 5000+ BE recommended cooler?

It's not the best available but not bad bang for buck. I'm using the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro. With my 5000+ BE, clocked to 3 [email protected], I'm getting 30 C Idle and 50 C Prime95, 55 C S&M. This is with the fan about 1700 RPM (barely audible) rather than the rated maximum, which is over 2000RPM. It uses the standard socket 939 clamps so fitting it is very easy too.

Note: I used a very thin layer of AS5 for thermal compound and these temps are after a few weeks of running. Temps were initially a little higher.

i would go for the Freezer 64 too. does the job well at a very good price. no need to spend extra money unless you want extreme OC'ing. and even then im not sure the cooling would be any more efficient. having said this i have only ever compared stock to freezer 64 ;)

It is good but the fan is a tad noisy at full speed. I ended up replacing the fan with a 120mm yate loon by tying it to the HS with cable ties. does just as good a job as the stock fan & is a lot quieter.

I have an Artic Cooling Alpine 64 and it currently running my 5000+ @ 3ghz on stock voltage at around 35 degrees (idle)

I don't have a load test because I only built it last night and aint got round to playing anything serious.
