I have increased the mutpliplier from 13 to 14 on AMD X2 5000+ Black Edition but when I check in CPU-Z it still shows the multiplier as 13. I have disable Cool and Quiet and Fan Control in the BIOS but still cannot get the multiplier to increase.

Is there any other software that can display the CPU multiplier? Or does anybody have any ideas why this isn't working. It did work with Vista and I cannot believe that Windows 7 is the problem.

Thanks,
Andy

So this is even stranger now. Check multiplier in CPU-Z and it shows 13, check it in CrystalCPUID and it shows it as 13 (Current) and Original as 8 with a 65% overclock (ewhat is that all about?). I can then up the multiplier to 14 in CrystalCPUID and when I check again in CPU-Z it then shows it as 14.

Why isn't the multiplier overclock from the BIOS working?

Thanks,
Andy

I have a workaround for this now which is silent and does not cause any interuption. I used CrystalCPUID and created a startup item that opens CPUID, applies the multiplier overclock and then closes CPUID. There is no detectable delay in boot time and the overclock is applied everytime. This will be OK for the time being until and upgrade my motherbaord, CPU and memory later on in the year.
