I've been looking for an AMD X2 5050e for my NAS build, but can't find one anywhere. Its perfect for me, the fastest, low power consumption CPU (45W) for AMD chipset.

I can see that overclockers don't stock it any more. However even those retailers that do, all seem to be out of stock and don't have an idea when it will be back in.

The CPU is not too old, so I am assumming its still a current model and that there are issues with stock levels, rather than it being discontinued ? Does anyone know if there is an imminent replacement, (45w AM3 ?).

I have seen that the X2 4850e is available, but it just doesn't seem right buying a lower CPU
 
Your NAS would run fine on an atom...assuming your using freenas and not some sort of windows program, which would make it a server not a NAS.
 
Well its against forum rules to link to competitor sites....so youll have to find it on your own mate, but if you can get a 4850e then that will also do the job for a server just fine.

You'll have a hard time tracking one down I'm afraid. A mate at work has just bought one of the last ones that we could find in stock anywhere.

Try a place that has a daffodil as its' logo.
